قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌۢ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ مَا تُؤْمَرُونَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They said: ‘Pray for us to thy Lord that He make plain to us what she is.’ He answered: ‘God says, it is a cow, neither old nor young, fullgrown, between the two; now do what you are commanded.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
انہوں نے کہا اپنے ربّ سے ہماری خاطر دعا کر کہ وہ ہمارے لئے واضح کردے کہ وہ کیا ہے؟ اس نے کہا یقیناً وہ کہتا ہے کہ وہ ایک گائے ہے، نہ بہت بوڑھی اور نہ بہت کم عمر، اس کے بین بین درمیانی عمر کی ہے۔ پس وہی کرو جو تمہیں حکم دیا جاتا ہے۔
French
Ils dirent : « Prie ton Seigneur pour nous afin qu’Il nous explique comment elle est. » Il leur répondit : « Allāh dit que c’est une vache ni jeune, ni vieille, mais pleinement grandie entre les deux ; maintenant, faites ce qui vous est commandé. »

Sie sprachen: "Bitte deinen Herrn für uns, dass Er uns deutlich mache, was sie ist." Er antwortete: "Er spricht, es ist eine Kuh, weder alt noch jung, voll erwachsen, zwischen beidem; nun tut, wie euch geboten."

他们说: “请替我们求你的养主对我们说明它是什么样的一头牛” (穆撒回答说:) “安拉说: ‘那是不老不幼介乎二者之间的一头中年牛。’ 你们要遵循你们所受的命令。”

Ellos dijeron: “Ruega por nosotros a tu Señor para que nos indique cómo es”. Respondió: “Dios dice: es una vaca, ni vieja ni joven, ya crecida, de edad intermedia entre las dos; y ahora haced lo que se os manda.”
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
انہوں نے کہا‘ ہماری خاطر اپنے رب سے دعا کیجیے ٔ کہ وہ ہمیں کھول کر بتائے کہ وہ (گائے) کیسی ہے؟ اس نے (یعنی موسیٰ نے) کہا کہ وہ فرماتا ہے وہ ایسی گائے ہے کہ نہ تو بڑھیا ہے اور نہ بچھیا‘ بلکہ اس کے درمیان[1] پوری جوان ہے اس لئے جو حکم تمہیں دیا جاتا ہے اسے بجا لاؤ۔
یعنی بیان شدہ حد بندی۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
They said, ‘Pray for us to thy Lord that He make plain to us what she is.’ He answered, ‘God says, it is a cow, neither old nor young, full-grown, between the two; now do what you are commanded.’
English - Five Volume Translation
They said, ‘Pray for us to thy Lord that He make plain to us what she is.’ He answered, ‘God says, it is a cow, neither old nor young, full-grown, between the two; now do what you are commanded.’[75]
Important Words:
فارض (old) is derived from فرض. They say فرضت البقرة meaning, the cow became old (Lane).
اعوان (full-grown) is derived from عان. They say عانت المراة i.e. the woman attained middle age. So عوان is said of one that has attained middle age. الحرب العوان means, the hottest and bloodiest part of a battle (Aqrab).

اردو ترجمہ مودودی
بولے اچھا، اپنے رب سے درخواست کرو کہ وہ ہمیں گائے کی کچھ تفصیل بتائے موسیٰؑ نے کہا، اللہ کا ارشاد ہے کہ وہ ایسی گائے ہونی چاہیے جو نہ بوڑھی ہو نہ بچھیا، بلکہ اوسط عمر کی ہو لہٰذا جو حکم دیا جاتا ہے اس کی تعمیل کرو
English - Sahih
They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is." [Moses] said, "[Allah] says, 'It is a cow which is neither old nor virgin, but median between that,' so do what you are commanded."

انہوں نے کہا ہمارے لیے اپنے رب سے دعا کر ہمیں بتائے کہ وہ گائے کیسی ہے کہا وہ فرماتا ہے کہ وہ ایک ایسی گائے ہے نہ بوڑھی اور نہ بچہ اس کے درمیان ہے پس کر ڈالو جو تمہیں حکم دیا جاتا ہے

They said, "Pray for us (to) your Lord to make clear to us what it (is)." He said, "Indeed, He says, "[Indeed] it (is) a cow not old and not young, middle aged between that," so do what you are commanded."

They said, 'Pray to thy Lord for us, that He may make clear to us what she may be.' He said, 'He says she is a cow neither old, nor virgin, middling between the two; so do that you are bidden.'
English - Maududi
Then they said, "Please make a request to your Lord to give us some details of the cow." Moses answered, "Allah says that the cow should neither be old nor immature but of middle age. Do, therefore, as you are bidden."
English - Ahmed Ali
"Call on your Lord for us," they said, "that He might inform us what kind she should be." "Neither old nor young, says God, but of age in between," answered Moses. "So do as you are bid."

They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what (heifer) it is!" He said; "He says: The heifer should be neither too old nor too young, but of middling age. Now do what ye are commanded!"

Important Words:
فارض (old) is derived from فرض. They say فرضت البقرة meaning, the cow became old (Lane).
