اَلَّذِیۡنَ یَتَّخِذُوۡنَ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ اَوۡلِیَآءَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ۚ اَیَبۡتَغُوۡنَ عِنۡدَہُمُ الۡعِزَّۃَ فَاِنَّ الۡعِزَّۃَ لِلّٰہِ جَمِیۡعًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Those who take disbelievers for friends rather than believers. Do they seek honour at their hands? Then let them remember that all honour belongs to Allah.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

(یعنی) اُن لوگوں کو جو مومنوں کو چھوڑ کر کافروں کو دوست بنا لیتے ہیں۔ کیا وہ ان کے قرب میں عزت کے خواہاں ہیں۔ پس یقیناً عزّت تمام تر اللہ کے قبضہ میں ہے۔

French

Ceux qui choisissent pour amis des mécréants plutôt que des croyants, recherchent-ils l’honneur auprès d’eux ? Alors qu’ils se souviennent qu’en vérité, tout honneur appartient à Allāh.

German

jenen, die sich Ungläubige zu Freunden nehmen vor den Gläubigen*. Suchen sie etwa Ehre bei ihnen? Dann, wahrlich, gehört alle Ehre Allah allein.

[f]凡舍弃信仰的人而与不信仰的人结交者, 他们想从不信者的手中求取什么尊荣吗? (假如是这样, 那么, 他们要记着,) [g]的确一切荣誉都是安拉的。

Italian

Coloro che scelgono per amici dei miscredenti anziché dei credenti. Cercano onore da loro? In tal caso ricordino che certamente ogni onore appartiene ad Allah.

Spanish

Quienes toman por amigos a incrédulos en lugar de creyentes ¿buscan acaso dignidad alguna de ellos? Pues que recuerden que toda dignidad pertenece a Al-lah.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

جو مومنوں کو چھوڑ کر کافروں کو (اپنا) دوست بناتے ہیں۔کیاوہ ان کے پاس عزت کے خواہاں ہیں (اگر ایسا ہے) تو (وہ یاد رکھیں کہ) عزت سب (کی سب) اللہ ہی کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[f]Those who take disbelievers for friends rather than believers. Do they seek honour at their hands? Surely, [g]all honour belongs to Allah.

Commentary:

The verse gives a most graphic and painful portrait of many present-day Muslims.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کیا یہ لوگ عزت کی طلب میں اُن کے پاس جاتے ہیں؟ حالانکہ عزت تو ساری کی ساری اللہ ہی کے لیے ہے

English - Sahih

Those who take disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do they seek with them honor [through power]? But indeed, honor belongs to Allah entirely.

وہ جو مسلمانوں کو چھوڑ کر کافروں کو اپنا دوست بناتے ہیں کیا ان کے ہاں سے عزت چاہتے ہیں سو ساری عزت الله ہی کے قبضہ میں ہے

Those who take the disbelievers (as) allies (from) instead of the believers. Do they seek with them the honor? But indeed, the honor (is) for Allah, all.

Those who take unbelievers for their friends instead of believers -- do they seek glory in them? But glory altogether belongs to God.

who take the unbelievers for their allies in preference to the believers. Do they seek honour from them whereas honour altogether belongs to Allah alone?

Do those who take unbelievers as their friends in preference to the faithful seek power from them? But all power belongs to God.

Yea, to those who take for friends unbelievers rather than believers: is it honour they seek among them? Nay,- all honour is with Allah.
