وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And verily, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that. But most of them know not.

اور یقیناً وہ لوگ جنہوں نے ظلم کیا ان کے لئے اس کے علاوہ بھی عذاب ہوگا لیکن ان میں سے اکثر جانتے نہیں۔

Et en vérité, pour ceux qui font le mal, il y a un autre châtiment en sus de celui-là. Mais la plupart d’entre eux ne savent pas.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ظالم لوگوں کو اس کے علاوہ اور بھی عذاب پہنچیں گے۔ لیکن ان میں سے اکثر نہیں جانتے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And, verily, for those, who do wrong, there is a punishment besides that.[2866] But most of them know not.

Dun means, before and behind in respect of place or time; nearby; present with; other; besides (Lane).

English - Five Volume Translation

[c]And verily, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that. But most of them know not.[3963]

Important Words:

دون (besides) among other things means, before and behind in respect of place or time; at, near, nearby; with or present with; other than, beside or besides (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

If یوم (day) in the preceding verse be taken to refer to the Day of Badr, the expression دون ذالک would signify the Divine punishment that overtook the Meccan disbelievers in the form of the destructive "seven year famine," etc. But if یوم refers to the Day of Judgement, the expression would mean the punishments that come upon disbelievers in this life.

اور اُس وقت کے آنے سے پہلے بھی ظالموں کے لیے ایک عذاب ہے، مگر اِن میں سے اکثر جانتے نہیں ہیں

English - Sahih

And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.

اوربے شک ان ظالموں کو علاوہ اس کے ایک عذاب (دنیا میں) ہوگا لیکن اکثر ان میں سے نہیں جانتے
