أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ

And are the people of these towns secure from the coming of Our punishment upon them in the early part of the forenoon while they are engaged in play?

اور کیا بستیوں والے اس بات سے امن میں ہیں کہ ہمارا عذاب انہیں ایسے وقت آلے کہ سورج چڑھ آیا ہو اور وہ کھیل کود میں مصروف ہوں۔

Et les habitants de ces villes sont-ils donc à l’abri de la venue de Notre châtiment sur eux en début de matinée pendant qu’ils jouent ?

Y ¿están seguras las gentes de estas ciudades frente a la aparición de Nuestro castigo sobre ellos en la primera parte de la tarde, mientras están ocupados en la diversión?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یا ان شہروں میں رہنے والے لوگ اس بات سے امن میں آگئے ہیں کہ ہمارا عذاب ان پر دوپہر کے وقت آجائے اور وہ کھیل رہے[2] ہوں۔

ہندوستان میں دوپہر کے وقت بازاروں اور برآمدوں میں لوگ چوسر کھیلتے ہیں معلوم ہوتا ہے چونکہ یہ قوم بھی تاجر تھی۔ ان میں بھی ایسا ہی کوئی رواج تھا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And are the people of these towns[1016] secure from [b]the coming of our punishment upon them in the early part of the forenoon while they play?

7:5.

The words "these towns" refer to Mecca and its sister towns of Hijaz. The meaning is "Do not the people of Mecca, etc. take a lesson from the fate of ‘Ad, Thamud, the people of Lot and from that of the people of Shu‘aib?

And are the people of these towns secure from [a]the coming of Our punishment upon them in the early part of the forenoon while they are engaged in play?[995]

7:5.

Commentary:

Whereas the preceding verse mentioned the time of night and sleep, the present one refers to the time of forenoon and play—both times of extreme negligence and forgetfulness.

یا انہیں اطمینان ہو گیا ہے کہ ہمارا مضبوط ہاتھ کبھی یکایک ان پر دن کے وقت نہ پڑے گا جب کہ وہ کھیل رہے ہوں؟

Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play?

یا بستیوں والے اس بات سے نڈر ہو چکے ہیں کہ ان پر ہمارا عذاب دن چڑھے آئے جب وہ کھیل رہے ہوں
