اٰتُوۡنِیۡ زُبَرَ الۡحَدِیۡدِ ۖ حَتّٰۤی اِذَا سَاوٰی بَیۡنَ الصَّدَفَیۡنِ قَالَ انۡفُخُوۡا ۖ حَتّٰۤی اِذَا جَعَلَہٗ نَارًا قَالَ اٰتُوۡنِیۡۤ اُفۡرِغۡ عَلَیۡہِ قِطۡرًا
یعنی دیوار دھات کی بننی ہے‘ تم علاقہ کے لوگ ہو‘ دھات مہیا کرو۔ باقی انجینئرنگ کا کام میرے آدمی کریں گے۔
جہاں ذوالقرنین نے دیوار بنائی وہاں ایک طرف بحیرہ اخضر ہے اور دوسری طرف کوہ قاف۔ اور یہ دونوں چیزیں دونوں طرف سے سَدّ یعنی روک کا کام دے رہی تھیں۔ صرف درمیانی درّہ غیر محفوظ تھا۔
ایک طرف سمندر تھا اور ایک طرف پہاڑ۔ ان دونوں میں برابری کے کیا معنے؟ سو یاد رکھنا چاہیے کہ یہاں برابری سے مراد یہ ہے کہ درمیانی کھلے میدان کو دیوار سے بند کر دیا تو دشمن نہ پہاڑ سے آسکا اور نہ سمندر سے۔ اس طرح روک کے لحاظ سے برابری ہوگئی۔

In addition to human labour Cyrus demanded iron and molten copper from the inhabitants of the place. Copper, unlike iron, does not rust and when it is mixed with iron the mixture becomes all the more hard and defies rusting and corrosion. In order to keep the pass open for traders and commercial travellers Cyrus wanted to construct gates in the wall and for that purpose he required iron and molten copper.
