وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً لَّا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًا وَلَا حَيَوٰةً وَلَا نُشُورًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Yet they have taken beside Him gods, who create nothing but are themselves created, and who have no power to harm or benefit themselves and they control not death nor life nor resurrection.

اور انہوں نے اس کے سوا ایسے معبود بنا رکھے ہیں جو کچھ پیدا نہیں کر تے جبکہ وہ خود پیدا کئے گئے ہیں اور وہ اپنے لئے بھی نہ نقصان کی طاقت رکھتے ہیں نہ نفع کی اور نہ ان کے اختیار میں موت ہے نہ زندگی اور نہ ہی حشرنشر۔

Néanmoins, ils ont pris en dehors de Lui des dieux, qui ne créent rien, mais qui sont eux-mêmes créés, et qui n’ont aucun pouvoir de faire ni le mal ni le bien pour eux-mêmes, et ils ne contrôlent ni la mort, ni la vie, ni la Résurrection.

اور ان لوگوں نے اس (خدا) کے سوا معبود بنا چھوڑے ہیں‘ جو کچھ (بھی) پیدا نہیں کرتے حالانکہ وہ خود پیدا کیے جاتے ہیں اور جو اپنی ذات کے لئے نہ کسی ضرر پر قادر ہیں نہ نفع پر۔ نہ موت کے مالک ہیں اور نہ زندگی کے اور نہ پھر جی اٹھنے کے۔

Yet [a]they have taken beside Him gods, [b]who create nothing but are themselves created, and who have no power to harm or benefit themselves, nor have they any power over death or life or Resurrection.[2065]

Everything has to pass through three stages of development: (a) The stage of lifelessness; (b) of potential life, when a thing is endowed with the attributes and powers of growth; and (c) of actual life. God, the Creator of all life, possesses complete and undisputed control over all these stages.

Commentary:

Everything has to pass through three stages of development. The verse under comment mentions all these stages. The first stage is characterized by the absence of life. It is described as موت or the stage of lifelessness. The second stage is described as حیاة or حیاة بالقوة i.e. potential life, when a thing is endowed with the attribute and power of growth; and the third stage is reached when its powers come into actual play. This stage is known as حیاة بالفعل or نشور i.e. actual life. God, the Creator of all life possesses complete and undisputed control over all these stages.

لوگوں نے اُسے چھوڑ کر ایسے معبود بنا لیے جو کسی چیز کو پیدا نہیں کرتے بلکہ خود پیدا کیے جاتے ہیں، جو خود اپنے لیے بھی کسی نفع یا نقصان کا اختیار نہیں رکھتے، جو نہ مار سکتے ہیں نہ جِلا سکتے ہیں، نہ مرے ہوئے کو پھر اٹھا سکتے ہیں

But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.
