English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Moses said to his people, ‘Seek help from Allah and be steadfast. Verily, the earth is Allah’s ; He gives it as a heritage to whomsoever He pleases of His servants, and the end is for the God-fearing.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ اللہ سے مدد چاہو اور صبر کرو۔ یقیناً مُلک اللہ ہی کا ہے وہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جسے چاہے گا اس کا وارث بنا دے گا اور عاقبت متقیوں کی ہی ہوا کرتی ہے۔

French

Moïse dit à son peuple : « Demandez aide auprès d’Allāh, et soyez constants. En vérité, c’est à Allāh qu’appartient la terre ; Il l’accorde en héritage à qui Il veut parmi Ses Serviteurs, et la fin heureuse sera pour ceux qui craignent Allāh. »

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اس پر) موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا‘ اللہ سے مدد مانگتے رہو اور صبر سے کام لو۔ ملک تو اللہ کا ہے‘ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کو چاہتا ہے اس کا وارث کر دیتا ہے اور (اچھا) انجام متقیوں کے ہی ہاتھ رہتا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[b]Moses said to his people, ‘Seek help from Allah and be steadfast. Verily the earth is Allah’s; He gives it as a heritage to whomsoever He pleases of His servants and the good end is for the God-fearing.’

English - Five Volume Translation

[a]Moses said to his people, ‘Seek help from Allah and be steadfast. Verily, the earth is Allah’s; He gives it as a heritage to whomsoever He pleases of His servants, and the end is for the God-fearing.’[1018]

2:46,154.

Commentary:

Pharaoh was proud of his power and dominion and was tyrannical in the extreme; so the Israelites are here comforted by Moses with an assurance that they need not be afraid of him, as his power shall be broken and his kingdom taken away from him.

The expression, He gives it as a heritage to whomsoever He pleases of His servants, does not necessarily mean that the Israelites were to be made to inherit Egypt after the destruction of Pharaoh. It only means that Pharaoh’s power was to be broken and others were to take possession of his kingdom. History tells us that after the destruction of Pharaoh and the break-up of his kingdom, another dynasty, who were friendly to the Israelites, took possession of the land.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

موسیٰؑ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا "اللہ سے مدد مانگو اور صبر کرو، زمین اللہ کی ہے، اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کو چاہتا ہے اس کا وارث بنا دیتا ہے، اور آخری کامیابی انہی کے لیے جو اس سے ڈرتے ہوئے کام کریں"

English - Sahih

Said Moses to his people, "Seek help through Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous."

موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا الله سے مدد مانگو اور صبر کرو بے شک زمین الله کی ہے اپنے بندوں میں سے جسےچاہے اس کا وارث بنا دے اور انجام بخیر پرہیزگاروں کا ہی ہوتا ہے

Said Moses to his people, 'Pray for succour to God, and be patient; surely the earth is God's and He bequeaths it to whom He will among His servants. The issue ultimate is to the godfearing.'
