فَکُلًّا اَخَذۡنَا بِذَنۡۢبِہٖ ۖ فَمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ حَاصِبًا وَّمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ اَخَذَتۡہُ الصَّیۡحَۃُ وَمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ خَسَفۡنَا بِہِ الۡاَرۡضَ وَمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ اَغۡرَقۡنَا ۚ وَمَا کَانَ اللّٰہُ لِیَظۡلِمَہُمۡ وَلٰکِنۡ کَانُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَہُمۡ یَظۡلِمُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

So each one of them We seized in his sin; of them were those against whom We sent a violent sandstorm, and of them were those whom a roaring blast overtook, and of them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow up, and of them were those whom We drowned. And Allah would not wrong them, but they used to wrong their own souls.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس ہم نے ہر ایک کو اس کے گناہ کے سبب سے پکڑ لیا۔ پس ان میں ایسا گروہ بھی تھا جن پر ہم نے کنکر برسانے والا ایک جھکّڑ بھیجا۔ اور ان میں ایسا گروہ بھی تھا جس کو ایک ہولناک گرج نے پکڑلیا۔ اور ان میں سے ایسا گروہ بھی تھا جسے ہم نے زمین میں دھنسا دیا اور ان میں سے ایسا بھی ایک گروہ تھا جسے ہم نے غرق کر دیا۔ اور اللہ ایسا نہیں کہ ان پر ظلم کرتا لیکن وہ خود ہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کرنے والے تھے۔

French

Ainsi Nous avons saisi chacun d’entre eux à cause de son péché ; parmi eux il y avait ceux contre lesquels Nous envoyâmes une violente tempête de sable ; et parmi eux il y avait ceux qu’une forte explosion a surpris ; et parmi eux il y avait ceux que Nous engloutîmes dans la terre ; et parmi eux il y avait ceux que Nous noyâmes. Et Allāh ne fut pas injuste envers eux ; mais ils furent injustes envers leur propre âme.

German

So erfassten Wir einen jeden in seiner Sünde; es waren unter ihnen welche, gegen die Wir einen Steinhagel schickten, und welche, die ein lauter Ruf ereilte, und welche, die Wir von der Erde verschlingen ließen, und welche, die Wir ertränkten. Und Allah wollte nicht ihnen Unrecht tun, sondern sich selbst haben sie Unrecht getan.

Così, Noi colpimmo ciascuno di loro per il loro peccato. Tra loro v'erano alcuni contro i quali Noi mandammo una violenta bufera di sabbia, e tra loro v'erano alcuni che furono sopraggiunti da un vento veemente, e tra loro v'erano alcuni che Noi facemmo inghiottire dalla terra, e tra loro v'erano alcuni che Noi annegammo. E non è stato Allah a fare torto ad essi. Sono stati loro a far torto alle proprie anime.

Spanish

Así caímos sobre cada uno de ellos por su pecado; contra algunos de ellos enviamos una violenta tormenta de arena, otros quedaron sobrecogidos por un estallido espantoso, otros hicimos que fueran tragados por la tierra, y hubo otros a quienes ahogamos. No fue Al-lah quien los perjudicó, sino que fueron ellos los que arruinaron sus propias almas.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پس ہم نے ان میں سے ہر ایک کو اس کے گناہ کی وجہ سے پکڑ لیا۔ سو ان میں سے کوئی تو ایسا تھا کہ ہم نے اس پر پتھروں کا مینہ برسایا اور کوئی ایسا تھا کہ اس کو کسی اور سخت عذاب نے پکڑ لیا۔ اور کوئی ایسا تھا کہ ہم نے اس کو ملک میں ذلیل کر دیا۔ اور کوئی ایسا تھا کہ ہم نے اسے غرق کر دیا۔ اور اللہ ان پر ظلم کرنے والا نہیں تھا‘ بلکہ وہ خود ہی اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

So each one of them We seized for his sin; of them were those against whom We sent a violent sandstorm, and of them were those whom a roaring blast overtook, and of them were [a]those whom We caused the earth to swallow up, and of them were those whom We drowned.[2253] [b]And Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

The Qur’an has used different words and expressions for the punishment which overtook the opponents of the various Prophets in their respective times. The punishment that came upon ‘Ad is described as furious wind (41:17; 54:20 & 69:7); that which overtook Thamud as earthquake (7:79), blast (11:68: 54:32), thunderbolt (41:18) and violent blast (69:6); that which destroyed the people of Lot as stones of clay (11:83; 15:75), storm of stones (54:35); and that which overtook Midian, the people of Shu‘aib, as earthquake (7:92; 29:38), blast (11:95), and punishment of the day of overshadowing doom (26:190). Last of all the heavenly punishment which seized Pharaoh and his mighty hosts and courtiers, Haman and Korah and destroyed them root and branch, has been described by the expressions: We…drowned Pharaoh’s people (2:51; 7:137 & 17:104), and We caused the earth to swallow him up (28:82).

Commentary:

Whereas separate mention has been made in the few preceding verses of the peoples of the five great Prophets of God (Hud, Salih, Lot, Shu‘aib and Moses), the manner in which they treated their Prophets and of the Divine punishment that overtook them on account of their wicked behaviour, the present verse deals collectively with the different forms of punishment. The Quran has used different words and expressions to describe the punishment which overtook the opponents of the various Prophets in their respective times. The punishment that came upon ‘Ad, is described as ریحا صرصراi.e. furious wind (41:17; 54:20 & 69:7) and الریح العقیم i.e. destructive wind (51:42); that which overtook Thamud, as رجفة i.e. earthquake (7:79), صیحة i.e. blast (11:68; 54:32), صاعقة i.e. thunderbolt (41:18) and طاغیة i.e. violent blast (69:5); that which destroyed the people of Lot as حجارة من سجیل i.e. stones of clay (11:83; 15:75), صیحة and حاصبا i.e. storm of stones (54:35); and that which overtook Midian, the people of Shu‘aib as رجفة i.e. earthquake (7:92; 29:38), صیحة i.e. blast (11:95), and عذاب یوم الظلة i.e. punishment of the day of overshadowing doom (26:190). Last of all the heavenly punishment which seized Pharaoh and his mighty hosts and his courtiers, Haman and Korah and destroyed them root and branch has been described by the expressions أغرقنا i.e. We drowned them (2:51; 7:137 & 17:104) and خسفنا به i.e. We made the earth swallow him up (28:82).

A careful study of these words shows that some of them, particularly حاصب ، صیحة ، صاعقة ، رجفة and طاغیة are interchangeable and possess almost analogous significance and meaning. See also 11:68.

آخر کار ہر ایک کو ہم نے اس کے گناہ میں پکڑا، پھر ان میں سے کسی پر ہم نے پتھراؤ کرنے والی ہوا بھیجی، اور کسی کو ایک زبردست دھماکے نے آ لیا، اور کسی کو ہم نے زمین میں دھسا دیا، اور کسی کو غرق کر دیا اللہ اُن پر ظلم کرنے والا نہ تھا، مگر وہ خود ہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کر رہے تھے

So each We seized for his sin; and among them were those upon whom We sent a storm of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the blast [from the sky], and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. And Allah would not have wronged them, but it was they who were wronging themselves.

پھر ہم نے ہر ایک کو اس کے گناہ پر پکڑا پھر کسی پر تو ہم نے پتھروں کا مینہ بر سایا اور ان میں سے کسی کو کڑک نے آپکڑا اور کسی کو ان میں سے زمین میں دھنسا دیا اور کسی کو ان میں سے غرق کر دیا اور الله ایسا نہ تھا کہ ان پر ظلم کرے لیکن وہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا کرتے تھے

Each We seized for his sin; and of them against some We loosed a squall of pebbles and some were seized by the Cry, and some We made the earth to swallow, and some We drowned; God would never wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

So We seized each for their sin. We let loose upon some a violent tornado with showers of stones; some were overtaken by a mighty Cry; some were caused to be swallowed up by the earth, and some We drowned. Allah would not wrong them, but it is they who wronged themselves.
