۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ ۛ سَمَّٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّٰعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦ ۖ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
O Messenger! let not those grieve thee who hastily fall into disbelief — those who say with their mouths, ‘We believe,’ but their hearts believe not. And among the Jews too are those who would fondly listen to any lie — who listen for conveying it to another people who have not come to thee. They pervert words after their being put in their right places, and say, ‘If you are given this, then accept it, but if you are not given this, then beware!’ And as for him whom Allah desires to try, thou shalt not avail him aught against Allah. These are they whose hearts Allah has not been pleased to purify; they shall have disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter they shall have a severe punishment.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اے رسول! تجھے وہ لوگ غمگین نہ کریں جو کفر میں تیزی سے بڑھ رہے ہیں ، یعنی وہ جو اپنے مونہوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لے آئے حالانکہ ان کے دل ایمان نہیں لائے تھے، نیز وہ لوگ بھی جو یہودی ہوئے۔ یہ جھوٹ کو بڑے انہماک سے سننے والے ہیں (اور) ایک دوسری قوم کی باتوں کو بھی جو تیرے پاس نہیں آئے بڑی توجہ سے سنتے ہیں۔ وہ کلمات کو ان کی مناسب جگہوں پر رکھے جانے کے بعد تبدیل کر دیتے ہیں۔ وہ (اپنے ساتھیوں سے) کہتے ہیں کہ اگر تمہیں یہ دیا جائے تو قبول کر لو اور اگر تمہیں یہ نہ دیا جائے تو بچ کر رہو اور جس کو اللہ فتنے میں ڈالنا چاہے تُو اس کے لئے اللہ سے (بچانے کا) کوئی اختیار نہیں رکھتایہی وہ لوگ ہیں کہ اللہ ہرگز نہیں چاہتا کہ اُن کے دلوں کو پاک کرے۔ ان کے لئے دنیا میں رُسوائی ہے اور آخرت میں ان کے لئے ایک بڑا عذاب (مقدر) ہے۔
French
Ô Messager, ne t’afflige pas de ceux qui tombent précipitamment dans la mécréance, ceux qui, de leur bouche, disent : « Nous croyons, » mais dont le cœur ne croit pas. Et parmi les Juifs aussi se trouvent ceux qui s’empressent d’écouter des mensonges, et n’écoutent que pour rapporter des propos à ceux qui ne sont pas venus à toi. Ils déplacent le sens des mots qui étaient d’abord à la bonne place, et ils disent : « Si l’on vous donne ceci, alors acceptez-le, mais si l’on ne vous donne pas ceci, alors prenez garde ! » Et quant à celui qu’Allāh désire éprouver, tes efforts pour lui venir en aide ne prévaudront pas contre Allāh. Ce sont ceux dont Allāh n’a pas voulu purifier le cœur ; la honte sera leur partage dans ce monde, et dans l’autre monde ils auront un très grand châtiment.
German
O du Gesandter, es sollen dich nicht betrüben jene, die hastig dem Unglauben verfallen – die mit dem Munde sprechen: "Wir glauben", jedoch ihre Herzen glauben nicht. Und unter den Juden sind solche, die auf jede Lüge horchen – horchen, um (sie) anderen (weiterzugeben), die noch nicht zu dir gekommen sind. Sie rücken die Worte von ihren richtigen Stellen und sagen: "Wenn euch dies gebracht wird, so nehmt es an, doch wenn es euch nicht gebracht wird, dann seid auf der Hut!" Und wen Allah auf die Probe stellen will, dem wirst du nichts frommen gegen Allah. Das sind die, deren Herzen zu reinigen es Allah nicht gefiel; für sie ist Schande in dieser Welt, und im Jenseits wird ihnen schwere Strafe.

O messaggero! Non lasciarti addolorare da coloro che cadono ben presto nella miscredenza -coloro che dicono con le bocche: «Noi crediamo», ma che non credono con il cuore. E anche tra gli ebrei vi sono coloro che sono più che desiderosi di dar ascolto alle menzogne, che ascoltano per riferirle ad un altro popolo che non è ancora venuto da te. Essi travisano le parole, dopo che sono state messe al loro giusto posto, e dicono: «Se è questo che vi è stato dato, allora accettatelo, ma se non vi è stato dato questo, allora state in guardia!» E quanto a colui che Allah desidera provare, non potrai fare nulla per lui contro Allah. Questi sono coloro i cui cuori Allah non si è compiaciuto di purificare; per loro vi sarà vergogna in questo mondo e nell'Aldilà avranno un grande castigo.

¡Oh, Mensajero! que no te aflijan quienes caen rápidamente en la incredulidad; los que dicen con sus bocas: “creemos”, pero sus corazones no creen. Y hay también entre los judíos quienes están ansiosos por escuchar mentiras –y te escuchan simplemente para ponerlo en conocimiento de los que no han acudido a ti.- Tergiversan las palabras después de puestas en su lugar adecuado y dicen: “Si os dan esto, aceptadlo, pero si no ¡cuidado!”. En cuanto a quien Al-lah desea probar, tú no podrás hacer nada por él contra Al-lah. Son aquellos cuyos corazones Al-lah no desea purificar; tendrán la deshonra en este mundo, y en el Más Allá un terrible castigo.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اے رسول! جو لوگ اپنے مونہوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لائے ہیں اور ان کے دل ایمان نہیں لائے ان میں سے جو لوگ کفر (کی باتوں کے قبول کرنے) میں جلدی کرتے ہیں وہ تجھے غمگین نہ کریں اور یہودیوں میں سے بھی بعض (ایسے لوگ ہیں جو) جھوٹی باتوں کو خوب سنتے ہیں‘ (وہ یہ باتیں) ایک اور جماعت کے (سنانے کے) لئے جو تیرے پاس نہیں آئی بکثرت سنتے ہیں وہ (خدا کی) باتوں کو ان کے (اپنے) ٹھکانے (پر رکھے جانے) کے بعد (ان کی اپنی جگہ سے) ادل بدل[1] دیتے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر تمہیں اس اس طرح (حکم) دیا جائے تو قبول کرلو اور اگر تمہیں اس اس طرح (حکم) نہ دیا جائے تو (اس سے) بچو (اور قبول نہ کرو) اور اللہ جس کی آزمائش کا ارادہ کرے تو اس کے لئے اللہ کے مقابلہ میں کچھ بھی نہیں کر سکے گا یہ لوگ (ایسے ہی) ہیں کہ اللہ نے ان کے دلوں کے صاف کرنے کا ارادہ (ہی) نہیں کیا۔ کیونکہ ان کے لئے (ان کے اعمال کی وجہ سے) اس دنیا میں (بھی) رسوائی (مقدر) ہے اور آخرت میں (بھی) ان کے لئے (بہت) بڑا عذاب (مقدر) ہے۔
یعنی قرآن کریم آکر سنتے ہیں۔ پھر اس کا غلط مفہوم لوگوں میں پھیلاتے ہیں تا لوگ مسلمانوں پر اعتراض کریں۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
O Messenger! let not those grieve thee who hasten to fall into disbelief—those who say with their mouths, ‘We believe,’ but their hearts believe not. And among the Jews too are those who would fondly [a]listen to any lie[746]— who listen for conveying it to other people who have not come to thee. They [b]pervert words after their being put in their right places; and say, ‘If you are given this, then accept it, but if you are not given this, then keep away from it.’ And as for him whom Allah desires to try, thou shalt not avail him aught against Allah. These are they whose hearts Allah has not been pleased to purify; they shall have disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter they shall have a severe punishment.

Commentary:
The expression سماعون للکذب (who would fondly listen to any lie) is capable of bearing two meanings: (1) they listen to you in order to lie, i.e. they come to you so that they may listen to your words, and then go out and distort and twist your words and their meanings before their own people and ascribe to you things which you did not say or mean; (2) they hearken to lies and accept them, i.e. they believe the lies which others utter about you and accept them as true. Similarly, the clause سماعون لقوم آخرین (who listen for conveying it to another people) means: (1) they listen (to you) for the sake of another people; i.e. they come and listen to what you say in order to report it to another people; (2) they believe what others say about you and take it as true.

اے پیغمبرؐ! تمہارے لیے باعث رنج نہ ہوں وہ لوگ جو کفر کی راہ میں بڑی تیز گامی دکھا رہے ہیں خواہ وہ اُن میں سے ہوں جو منہ سے کہتے ہیں ہم ایمان لائے مگر دل اُن کے ایمان نہیں لائے، یا اُن میں سے ہوں جو یہودی بن گئے ہیں، جن کا حال یہ ہے کہ جھوٹ کے لیے کان لگاتے ہیں، اور دوسرے لوگوں کی خاطر، جو تمہارے پاس کبھی نہیں آئے، سن گن لیتے پھرتے ہیں، کتاب اللہ کے الفاظ کو اُن کا صحیح محل متعین ہونے کے باوجود اصل معنی سے پھیرتے ہیں، اور لوگوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ اگر تمہیں یہ حکم دیا جائے تو مانو نہیں تو نہ مانو جسے اللہ ہی نے فتنہ میں ڈالنے کا ارادہ کر لیا ہو تو اس کو اللہ کی گرفت سے بچانے کے لیے تم کچھ نہیں کرسکتے، یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے دلوں کو اللہ نے پاک کرنا نہ چاہا، ان کے لیے دنیا میں رسوائی ہے اور آخرت میں سخت سزا
English - Sahih
O Messenger, let them not grieve you who hasten into disbelief of those who say, "We believe" with their mouths, but their hearts believe not, and from among the Jews. [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another people who have not come to you. They distort words beyond their [proper] usages, saying "If you are given this, take it; but if you are not given it, then beware." But he for whom Allah intends fitnah - never will you possess [power to do] for him a thing against Allah. Those are the ones for whom Allah does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.

اے رسول انکا غم نہ کر جو دوڑ کر کفر میں گرتے ہیں وہ لوگ جو اپنے منہ سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہم مومن ہیں حالانکہ ان کے دل مومن نہیں ہیں اور وہ جو یہودی ہیں جھوٹ بولنے کے لیے جاسوسی کرتے ہیں وہ دوسری جماعت کے جاسوس ہیں جو تجھ تک نہیں آئی بات کو اس کےٹھکانے سے بدل دیتے ہیں کہتے ہیں کہ تمہیں یہ حکم ملے تو قبول کر لینا اور اگر یہ نہ ملے تو بچتے رہنا اور جسے الله گمراہ کرنا چاہے سو تو الله کے ہاں ا سکے لیے کچھ نہیں کر سکتا یہ وہی لوگ ہیں جن کے دل پاک کرنے کا الله نے ارادہ نہیں کیا ان کے لیے دنیا میں ذلت ہے اور آخرت میں بڑا عذا ب ہے

O Messenger! Let not grieve you those who hasten in (to) [the] disbelief - of those who said, "We believe" with their mouths and not believe their hearts, and from those who (are) Jews. They (are) listeners to falsehood, (and) listeners for people, other, (who have) not come to you. They distort the words from after their context, saying, "If you are given this [so] take it but if not you are given it then beware." And (for) whom intends Allah his trial, then never will you have power for him against Allah anything. Those (are) the ones never will intend Allah that He purifies their hearts. For them in the world (is) disgrace and for them in the Hereafter (is) a punishment great.

Whomsoever God desires to try, thou canst not avail him anything with God. Those are they whose hearts God desired not to purify; for them is degradation in this world; and in the world to come awaits them a mighty chastisement;

O Messenger! Do not be grieved on account of those who vie with one another in disbelieving: even though they be those who say with their mouths: 'We believe' even though their hearts have no faith; or they be Jews who have their ears eagerly turned to falsehood and spy for other people who did not chance to come to you, who pervert the words of Allah, taking them out of their proper context in order to distort their meaning. They say to people: 'If such and such teaching is given to you, accept it; if you are not given that, then beware! You can be of no avail to him whom Allah wills to fall into error. He whom Allah doometh unto sin, thou (by thine efforts) wilt avail him naught against Allah. Those are they for whom the Will of Allah is that He cleanse not their hearts.
