12:83

وَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنَّا فِيهَا وَٱلْعِيرَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘And inquire of the people of the city wherein we were, and of the caravan with which we came, and certainly we are speaking the truth.’”

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس اس بستی (والوں) سے پوچھ جس میں ہم تھے اور اس قافلہ سے بھی جس میں شامل ہو کر ہم آئے ہیں اور یقیناً ہم سچے ہیں۔

French

Et interroge les gens de la ville où nous étions, et ceux de la caravane avec laquelle nous sommes venus ; et assurément nous disons la vérité.’ «

Frage nur die Stadt, in der wir waren, und die Karawane, mit der wir kamen; gewiss, wir sprechen die Wahrheit."»

“你可以查问我们所居留的那座城镇 (的居民) 和与我们同行的商队, 我们的确是实言的。”

Italian

E chiedi alla gente della città in cui eravamo e a quelli della carovana con la quale siamo venuti, perché certamente diciamo la verità.»

Spanish

“E indaga entre las personas de la ciudad en la que estábamos, y entre la caravana con la que vinimos; ciertamente decimos la verdad”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور آپ (بے شک) ان لوگوں سے (بھی) دریافت کر لیں جن میں ہم (رہتے) تھے اور اس قافلہ سے (بھی) جس کے ساتھ ہم آئے ہیں اور یقین جانیئے کہ ہم (اس بات میں) سچے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

‘And inquire of the people of the town[1401] wherein we were, and of the caravan with which we came, and certainly we are speaking the truth.”

In the verse Qaryah (town) is in reality Ahlul-Qaryah (people of the town) and ‘Ir (caravan) is Ashabul-‘Ir (members of the caravan). The words Ahl and Ashab have been omitted to lend emphasis to the statement.

And inquire of the people of the city wherein we were, and of the caravan with which we came, and certainly we are speaking the truth.’ ”[1582]

Commentary:

In the verse قریة (city) is in reality اھل قریة (people of the city) and عیر (caravan) is اصحاب العیر (members of the caravan). The words اھلand اصحاب have been omitted to lend emphasis to the statement. The construction "inquire of the caravan" would signify "if you inquire of any member of the caravan he would testify to the truth of our statement."

آپ اُس بستی کے لوگوں سے پوچھ لیجیے جہاں ہم تھے اُس قافلے سے دریافت کر لیجیے جس کے ساتھ ہم آئے ہیں ہم اپنے بیان میں بالکل سچے ہیں"

English - Sahih

And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came - and indeed, we are truthful,"

اوراس گاؤں سے پوچھ لیجیئے جس میں ہم تھے اور اس قافلہ سے بھی جس میں ہم آئے ہیں اور بے شک ہم سچے ہیں

You may inquire of the dwellers of the city where we were, and of the people of the caravan with whom we travelled. We are altogether truthful in what we say."
