فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

We turned it upside down, and We rained upon them stones of clay.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس ہم نے اس (بستی) کو تہ و بالا کردیا اور ان پر ہم نے کنکروں والی مٹی سے بنے ہوئے پتھروں کی بارش برسائی۔

. Et la ville, Nous la renversâmes sens dessus dessous, et Nous fîmes pleuvoir sur eux des pierres d’argile.

Und Wir kehrten das Oberste zuunterst, und Wir ließen auf sie Backsteine niederregnen.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

جس پر ہم نے اس بستی کی اوپر [1]والی سطح کو اس کی نچلی سطح کر دیا اور ان پر سنگریزوں سے بنے ہوئے پتھروں کی بارش برسائی۔

یعنی زلزلہ سے زمین تہ و بالا کر دی۔

[c]We turned their town upside down and We rained upon them stones of clay.

[b]We turned it upside down, and We rained upon them stones of clay.[1778]

سجیل (clay). See 11:83.

Commentary:

The houses of Lot’s people were turned upside down. This punishment corresponded to their unnatural offence. The punishment apparently took the form of a severe earthquake which raised portions of the stony soil and buried them under; or the houses had walls of stones and rubble laid in clay and these were violently shattered and the debris thrown all around.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اور ہم نے اُس بستی کو تل پٹ کر کے رکھ دیا اور ان پر پکی ہوئی مٹی کے پتھروں کی بارش برسا دی

And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

پھر ہم نے ان بستیوں کو زیرو زبر کر دیا اور ان پر کنکر کے پتھر برسائے
