قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّٰعِبِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

They said, ‘Is it really the truth that thou hast brought us, or art thou one of those who jest?’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

انہوں نے کہا کیا تُو ہمارے پاس کوئی حق لایا ہے یا تُو محض شغل کرنے والوں میں سے ہے؟

French

Ils dirent : « Est-ce réellement la vérité que tu nous as apportée, ou bien es-tu de ceux qui plaisantent ? »

German

Sie sprachen: "Bringst du uns die Wahrheit, oder gehörst du zu denen, die Scherz treiben?"

Chinese

他们说: “你确实带来了真理, 还是与我们开玩笑?”

Italian

Essi dissero: «Ci hai veramente portato la verità, o sei di quelli che scherzano?»

Spanish

Dijeron: “¿Es realmente la verdad lo que nos has traído, o eres uno de los que se burlan?”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

انہوں نے کہا‘ کیا تو ہمارے پاس ایک حقیقت لیکر آیا ہے یا تو ہم سے مذاق کر رہا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

They said, ‘Is it really the truth that thou hast brought us, or art thou jesting?’

English - Five Volume Translation

They said, ‘Is it really the truth that thou hast brought us, or art thou one of those who jest?’[2393]

Commentary:

The people of Abraham were such confirmed idolaters that when they saw Abraham preaching against idol-worship they did not at first believe that he was serious and earnest about his preaching. In this verse they have been depicted as asking him whether he was really convinced of the truth of his mission or whether he was only joking and jesting with them.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

انہوں نے کہا "کیا تو ہمارے سامنے اپنے اصلی خیالات پیش کر رہا ہے یا مذاق کرتا ہے؟"

They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"

انھوں نے کہا کیا تو ہمارے پاس سچی بات لایا ہے یا تو دل لگی کرتا ہے

English - Talal Itani

They said, "Have you come to us with the truth, or you (are) of those who play?"
