25:19
قَالُوۡا سُبۡحٰنَکَ مَا کَانَ یَنۡۢبَغِیۡ لَنَاۤ اَنۡ نَّتَّخِذَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِکَ مِنۡ اَوۡلِیَآءَ وَلٰکِنۡ مَّتَّعۡتَہُمۡ وَاٰبَآءَہُمۡ حَتّٰی نَسُوا الذِّکۡرَ وَکَانُوۡا قَوۡمًۢا بُوۡرًا
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They will say, ‘Holy art Thou! It was not proper for us to take protectors other than Thee; but Thou didst bestow on them and their fathers the good things of this life until they forgot the admonition and became a ruined people.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
وہ کہیں گے پاک ہے تُو۔ ہمیں زیب نہیں دیتا کہ ہم تجھے چھوڑ کر کوئی دوسرے آقا بنالیتے۔ لیکن تو نے ان کو اور ان کے آباءکو کچھ فائدہ پہنچایا یہاں تک کہ وہ (تیرے) ذکر کو بھول گئے اور ہلاک ہو جانے والی قوم بن گئے۔
French
Ils diront : « Saint es-Tu ! Il ne nous convenait pas de prendre d’autres protecteurs que Toi ; mais Tu leur as accordé, à eux et à leurs pères, certains bénéfices, au point où ils ont oublié l’admonition, et sont devenus un peuple ruiné. »

Sie werden sprechen: "Preis Dir! Es geziemte uns nicht, andere Beschützer als Dich anzunehmen; Du aber beschertest ihnen und ihren Vätern die guten Dinge (dieses Lebens), bis sie die Ermahnung vergaßen und ein verlorenes Volk wurden."

[f]於是他们 (回答) 说: “你是圣洁的! 我们不应该离开你而把别的对象作为自己的保护者; 但是你赐了他们和他们的祖先 (今世生活的) 美好东西, 而致使他们忘 记了你的劝告, 成了灭亡的人。”

Essi risponderanno: «Santo sei Tu! Non è stato conveniente per noi prendere altri protettori oltre a Te. Ma Tu hai concesso a loro e ai loro padri le buone cose di questa vita, finché hanno dimenticato il Tuo ammonimento e si sono rovinati.»
Spanish
Responderán: "¡Santo eres Tú! No nos correspondía tomar protectores fuera de Ti; pero Tú les concediste a ellos y a sus padres las cosas buenas de esta vida hasta que olvidaron la advertencia y se convirtieron en un pueblo de perdidos".
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
(تب) وہ جواب دیں گے تو پاک ہے ہمیں کوئی حق نہ تھا کہ ہم تیرے سوا اور ہستیوں کو اپنا کارساز بناتے لیکن تو نے ان لوگوں کو اور ان کے باپ دادوں کو دنیوی متاع بخشے یہاں تک کہ انہوں نے (تیری) یاد کو ترک کر دیا اور ہلاک ہونے والی قوم بن گئے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
[c]They will say, ‘Holy art Thou! It was not right for us to take protectors other than Thee; but Thou didst bestow on them and their fathers the good things of this life until they forgot Thy admonition and became a ruined people.’
34:42.

[b]They will say, ‘Holy art Thou! It was not proper for us to take protectors other than Thee; but Thou didst bestow on them and their fathers the good things of this life until they forgot the admonition and became a ruined people.’[2656]

Important Words:
بورا (ruined) is derived from بار which means, he or it perished. They say بارت السوق i.e. the market became dull. بار العمل means, the work became null and void. بارت الارض means, the land was or became uncultivated. The Arabic saying بادوا و باروا means, they became extinct and perished. بور means, a bad and corrupt man or people; a ruined man or people; a man or people in a state of perdition (Lane & Aqrab).
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
وہ عرض کریں گے "پاک ہے آپ کی ذات، ہماری تو یہ بھی مجال نہ تھی کہ آپ کے سوا کسی کو اپنا مولا بنائیں مگر آپ نے اِن کو اور ان کے باپ دادا کو خوب سامانِ زندگی دیا حتیٰ کہ یہ سبق بھول گئے اور شامت زدہ ہو کر رہے"
English - Sahih
They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined."

کہیں گے تو پاک ہے ہمیں یہ کب لایق تھا کہ تیرے سوا کسی اور کو کارساز بناتے لیکن تو نے انہیں اور ان کے باپ دادا کو یہاں تک آسودگی دی تھی کہ وہ یاد کرنا بھول گئے اور یہ لوگ تباہ ہونے والے تھے

They say, "Glory be to You! Not it was proper for us that we take besides You any protectors. But You gave them comforts and their forefathers until they forgot the Message and became a people ruined."

English - Arberry
They shall 'Glory be to Thee! It did not behove us to take unto say, ourselves protectors apart from Thee; but Thou gavest them and their fathers enjoyment of days, until they forgot
English - Maududi
They will answer, "Glory be to Thee! We dared not take anyguardian besides Thee: (they were misled because) Thou didst give them and their forefathers all the good things of life till they forgot the Admonition, and incurred the punishment. "

They will answer: "Glory to You. It was not worthy of us to seek any protector other than You. But You allowed them and their fathers a life of ease until they turned oblivious of the Reminder. They were a people impenitent.

They will say: "Glory to Thee! not meet was it for us that we should take for protectors others besides Thee: But Thou didst bestow, on them and their fathers, good things (in life), until they forgot the Message: for they were a people (worthless and) lost."
