28:85

مَنۡ جَآءَ بِالۡحَسَنَۃِ فَلَہٗ خَیۡرٌ مِّنۡہَا ۖ وَمَنۡ جَآءَ بِالسَّیِّئَۃِ فَلَا یُجۡزَی الَّذِیۡنَ عَمِلُوا السَّیِّاٰتِ اِلَّا مَا کَانُوۡا یَعۡمَلُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

He who does a good deed shall have better reward than that; and as for him who does an evil deed — those who do evil deeds shall not be rewarded but according to what they did.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

جو بھی کوئی نیکی لے کر آئے گا تو اُس کے لئے اس سے بہتر (اجر) ہوگا۔ اور جو بدی لے کر آئے گا تو وہ لوگ جو بدیوں کے مرتکب ہوئے، جزا نہیں دیئے جائیں گے مگر اتنی ہی جو وہ کیا کرتے تھے۔

French

Celui qui fait un bien aura en récompense meilleur que cela ; et quant à celui qui fait une mauvaise action, qu'il sache que ceux qui font de mauvaises actions ne seront récompensés que dans la mesure de ce qu’ils auront fait.

German

Wer Gutes vollbringt, soll Besseres als das erhalten; wer jedoch eine böse Tat vollbringt – jene, die böse Werke tun, sollen nur nach dem belohnt werden, was sie getan.

Chinese

[c]凡做好事的人, 将得到比那好事更好的报偿; 凡做坏事的人, 将遭受与那坏事同等的惩罚。

Italian

Colui che fa una buona opera avrà una ricompensa ancora migliore; e quanto a colui che fa un'opera cattiva - quelli che fanno il male non saranno ricompensati se non secondo quanto hanno fatto.

Spanish

Quien hace una buena obra tendrá una recompensa mejor que ella; y quien cometa una mala acción sepa que quienes cometen malas cciones no serán retribuidos salvo de acuerdo con lo que hicieron.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

جو شخص پسندیدہ عمل کرے‘ اسے اس سے بہتر بدلہ ملے گا۔ اور جو کوئی برا عمل کرے گا تو برے اعمال کرنے والوں کو ان کے اپنے عمل کے برابر جزا دی جائے گی۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[c]He who does a good deed shall have a reward better than that; and as for him who does an evil deed— those who do evil deeds shall not be rewarded but according to what they did.[2234]

The Divine law of compensation works in this way that whereas for good works the reward is many times greater, the punishment for an evil deed is less than what the guilty person incurs, or at the most proportionate to it.

English - Five Volume Translation

[c]He who does a good deed shall have better reward than that; and as for him who does an evil deed—those who do evil deeds shall not be rewarded but according to what they did.[2935]

Commentary:

The verse points to the divine law of compensation which in this life works in this way that whereas for good works God gives a reward many times greater than what the doer has earned, He punishes a bad deed with a punishment which is less than what the guilty person has incurred or at the most with a punishment proportionate to the evil deed which he has committed.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جو کوئی بھَلائی لے کر آئے گا اس کے لیے اس سے بہتر بھَلائی ہے، اور جو بُرائی لے کر آئے تو بُرائیاں کرنے والوں کو ویسا ہی بدلہ ملے گا جیسے عمل وہ کرتے تھے

English - Sahih

Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed - then those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except [as much as] what they used to do.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

جو بھلائی لے کر آیا اسے اس سے بہتر ملے گا اور جو برائی لے کر آیا پس برائیاں کرنے والوں کو وہی سزا ملے گی جو کچھ وہ کرتے تھے

English - Talal Itani

Whoever comes with a good (deed) then for him, (will be) better than it; and whoever comes with an evil (deed) then not will be recompensed those who do the evil (deeds) except what they used (to) do.

English - Arberry

Whoso brings a good deed shall have better than it; and whoso brings an evil deed those who have done evil deeds shall only be recompensed for that they were doing.

English - Maududi

He who shall bring a good deed shall be rewarded with what is better. But those who bring evil deeds shall not be requited more than their deeds.

English - Ahmed Ali

Whoever does good will receive better than what he has done; and whoever does ill shall be requited but to the extent of what he does.

English - Yusuf Ali

If any does good, the reward to him is better than his deed; but if any does evil, the doers of evil are only punished (to the extent) of their deeds.
