English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
‘But surely I am forgiving to those who repent and believe and do good deeds, and then stick to guidance.

اور یقیناً میں بہت بخشنے والا ہوں اُسے جو توبہ کرے اور ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل بجا لائے پھر ہدایت پر قائم رہے۔

اور جو شخص توبہ کرے اور ایمان لائے پھر مناسب حال عمل (بھی) کرے اور ہدایت پا جائے تو میں اس کے (بڑے سے بڑے) گناہ معاف کر دیا کرتا ہوں۔

Important Words:
اھتدی (stick to guidance) is derived from ھدی. They say ھداہ i.e. he guided him. الھدی which is the infinitive form, is generally used in three different senses: to show the right path; to lead to the right path; and to make one follow the right path. اھتدی means, he sought guidance; he followed guidance and he stuck to guidance (Aqrab, Baqa& Mufradat).

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
آسمانوں اور زمین کا رب ہے اور جو کچھ ان دونوں کے درمیان ہے اس کا بھی۔ (وہ) غالب ہے (اور اس کے باوجود) بخشنے والا[1] ہے۔
دنیا میں تو انسان یہ کرتے ہیں کہ جب غالب آجائیں تو اپنے دشمن کو پیس ڈالتے ہیں۔ لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ کے متعلق آتا ہے کہ وہ غالب بھی ہے اور بڑا بخشنے والا بھی۔ یعنی تمام کافر اس کے قبضہ میں ہیں پھر بھی وہ سزا دینے میں ڈھیلا ہے اس میں رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اخلاق بتائے گئے ہیں۔ کیونکہ رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے متعلق حضرت عائشہؓ فرماتی ہیں کہ کَانَ خُلُقُہُ الْقُُرْاٰن (احمد بن حنبل جلد ۶ صفحہ۹۱ مطبوعہ بیروت) یعنی قرآن کریم میں اللہ تعالیٰ کی جو صفات حسنہ بیان کی گئی ہیں وہ ساری کی ساری رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میں پائی جاتی تھیں۔ پس گو یہ الفاظ خداتع

اس نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو حق کے ساتھ پیدا کیا۔ وہ دن پر رات کا خول چڑھا دیتا ہے اور رات پر دن کا خول چڑھا دیتا ہے۔اور اُسی نے سورج اور چاند کو مسخر کیا۔ ہر ایک اپنی مقررہ میعاد کی طرف متحرک ہے۔ خبردار وہی کامل غلبہ والا (اور) بہت بخشنے والا ہے۔

Il a créé les cieux et la terre en toute vérité. Il fait que la nuit enveloppe le jour, et Il fait que le jour enveloppe la nuit ; et Il a mis en service le soleil et la lune ; chacun flotte sur son orbite jusqu’à un moment déterminé. Ecoutez, c’est Lui Seul Qui est le Puissant, le Grand Pardonneur.

Commentary:
This verse adduces as a further argument the creation of heavens and earth and the existence of perfect design and order in the universe in support of the belief that there is One Intelligent Designing Mind behind all existence. See also 36:41.

Commentary:
Whereas, as stated above in v. 42, the believers have an invincible faith in the truth of their cause, the disbelievers grope in the darkness of doubt and lack of knowledge. All disbelief springs from ignorance and superstition.
