31:7

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنۡ یَّشۡتَرِیۡ لَہۡوَ الۡحَدِیۡثِ لِیُضِلَّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِ اللّٰہِ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمٍ وَّیَتَّخِذَہَا ہُزُوًا ۚ اُولٰٓئِکَ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ مُّہِیۡنٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And of men is he who takes idle tales in exchange for guidance to lead men astray from the path of Allah, without knowledge, and to make fun of it. For such there will be humiliating punishment.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور لوگوں میں سے ایسے بھی ہیں جو بیہودہ بات کا سودا کرتے ہیں تاکہ بغیر کسی علم کے اللہ کی راہ سے گمراہ کر دیں اور اُسے تمسخر بنالیں۔ یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے لئے رسوا کر دینے والا عذاب (مقدر) ہے۔

French

Et parmi les hommes il y a celui qui prend des propos oisifs en échange de la direction, afin d’égarer les gens hors du chemin d’Allāh, par leur ignorance, et de s’en moquer. Pour ceux-là, il y aura un châtiment humiliant.

German

Unter den Menschen gibt es einen, der eitle Geschichten erhandelt, um (die Leute) irrezuleiten, hinweg von Allahs Pfad, ohne Wissen, und um damit Spott zu treiben. Solcher harrt eine schmähliche Strafe.

有些人 (浪费金钱和时间以正道) 换取无用的故事,[1003]使无知的人迷失安拉的道路, 并把它 (安拉的道路) 当作笑柄。这样的人将遭受耻辱的惩罚。

生命是非常严肃的东西。创造人类有着非常高贵而宏大的目的。但是那些性情轻浮的人把宝贵的时间和精力浪费在无聊的追求和荒唐的娱乐上 (23:116)。

Italian

E fra la gente c'è chi prende favole ridicole come guida, per allontanare gli uomini dal sentiero di Allah, senza conoscenza, e per farsene beffe. Per costoro ci sarà un castigo umiliante.

Spanish

Entre los hombres hay quien cambia la guía por historietas vanas para apartar a los hombres del camino de Al‑lah, sin conocimiento, burlándose de él. Para él habrá un castigo ignominioso.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور لوگوں میں سے بعض ایسے ہیں جو (اپنا روپیہ ضائع کرکے) کھیل تماشہ کی باتیں لیتے رہتے ہیں تاکہ بغیر علم کے لوگوں کو اللہ کے راستہ سے روکیں اور اس (یعنی اللہ کے راستہ) کو ہنسی کے قابل چیز بنا لیتے ہیں ان لوگوں کے لئے ذلت والا عذاب ہوگا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And of men is he who takes idle tales in exchange for guidance[2302] to lead men astray from the path of Allah, without knowledge, and to make a fun of it. For such there will be humiliating punishment.

Life is a very serious thing. Man has been created to serve a very noble and grand purpose. But men of frivolous turn of mind fritter away their precious time and energy in vain pursuits and foolish diversions (23:116).

English - Five Volume Translation

And of men is he who takes idle tales in exchange for guidance to lead men astray from the path of Allah, without knowledge, and to make fun of it. For such there will be humiliating punishment.[3036]

Commentary:

Life is a very serious thing. Man has been created to serve a very noble and grand purpose. To this seriousness and sublimity of human life, an emphatic and pointed reference has been made in the words "do you think that We have created you in vain and that you will not return to Us" (23:116). But in spite of this emphatic admonition, men of frivolous turn of mind fritter away their precious time and energy in vain pursuits and foolish diversions, treating the signs of God lightly, with the result that (as the verse says) they meet with disgrace and failure in this life, and a humiliating punishment awaits them in the Hereafter.

اور انسانوں ہی میں سے کوئی ایسا بھی ہے جو کلام دلفریب خرید کر لاتا ہے تاکہ لوگوں کو اللہ کے راستہ سے علم کے بغیر بھٹکا دے اور اس راستے کی دعوت کو مذاق میں اڑا دے ایسے لوگوں کے لیے سخت ذلیل کرنے والا عذاب ہے

English - Sahih

And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور بعض ایسے آدمی بھی ہیں جو کھیل کی باتوں کے خریدار ہیں تاکہ بن سمجھے الله کی راہ سے بہکائیں اور اس کی ہنسی اڑائیں ایسے لوگو ں کے لیے ذلت کا عذاب ہے

English - Talal Itani

And of the mankind (is he) who purchases, idle tales to mislead from (the) path (of) Allah without knowledge, and takes it (in) ridicule. Those for them (is) a punishment humiliating.

生命是非常严肃的东西。创造人类有着非常高贵而宏大的目的。但是那些性情轻浮的人把宝贵的时间和精力浪费在无聊的追求和荒唐的娱乐上 (23:116)。

Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement.

English - Maududi

There are some human beings who purchase an enchanting diversion in order to lead people away from the way of Allah without having any knowledge, who hold the call to the Way of Allah to ridicule. A humiliating chastisement awaits them.

But among men are also those who spread frivolous stories to mislead (others) from the way of God, without any knowledge, and take it lightly. For such as these the nemesis will be shameful.
