اَوَلَمۡ یَسِیۡرُوۡا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ فَیَنۡظُرُوۡا کَیۡفَ کَانَ عٰقِبَۃُ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ وَکَانُوۡۤا اَشَدَّ مِنۡہُمۡ قُوَّۃً ۚ وَمَا کَانَ اللّٰہُ لِیُعۡجِزَہٗ مِنۡ شَیۡءٍ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَلَا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ۚ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ عَلِیۡمًا قَدِیۡرًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how evil was the end of those who were before them? And they were stronger than they in power. And Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or the earth should frustrate His plans; verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

کیا انہوں نے زمین میں سیر نہیں کی کہ وہ دیکھ لیتے کہ ان لوگوں کا کیا انجام ہوا جو اُن سے پہلے تھے حالانکہ وہ قوّت میں ان سے بڑھ کر تھے؟ اور اللہ ایسا نہیں کہ آسمانوں یا زمین میں کوئی چیز بھی اسے عاجز کر سکے۔ یقیناً وہ دائمی علم رکھنے والا (اور) قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔

French

N’ont-ils pas parcouru la terre, et vu quelle mauvaise fin ont eue ceux qui les ont devancés ? Et ils étaient plus puissants que ceux-ci. Et Allāh n’est pas tel que quoi que ce soit dans les cieux ou sur la terre puisse contrarier Ses desseins ; en vérité, Il est Omniscient, Tout-Puissant.

German

Sind sie nicht auf der Erde umhergereist, so dass sie sehen konnten, wie der Ausgang derer war, die vor ihnen waren? Und sie waren stärker an Kraft als sie selber. Und nichts vermöchte Allah in den Himmeln oder auf Erden zu hemmen, denn Er ist allwissend, allmächtig.

Chinese

[e]难道他们不在大地上旅行, 观察他们以前人们的结局如何? 那些比他们原是更强而有力的。在天地之间没有任何东西可以破坏安拉的 (计划)。他确是全知的, 全能者。

Italian

Non sono forse andati in giro per il mondo, e non hanno visto quanto cattiva è stata la fine di coloro che erano prima di loro? E quelli erano più potenti di questi. E Allah è tale che nulla, nei cieli e sulla terra, può frustrare i Suoi piani. In verità, Egli è l'Onnisciente, l'Onnipotente.

Spanish

¿Acaso no han viajado por la tierra y han visto qué desgraciado fue el fin de quienes los precedieron? Y sin embargo tuvieron mayor poder que ellos. Pues tal es Al‑lah que nada en los cielos o en la tierra puede frustrar Sus planes; en verdad, Él es el Omnisciente, Omnipotente.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کیا وہ زمین میں نہیں پھرے (اگر ایسا کرتے) تو دیکھتے کہ ان سے پہلے لوگوں کا کیا انجام ہوا؟ حالانکہ وہ ان سے طاقت میں زیادہ تھے۔ اور کوئی چیز اللہ کو آسمانوں میں اور زمین میں اپنے ارادہ میں ناکام نہیں کر سکتی۔ وہ یقیناً بہت جاننے والا (اور) بڑی قدرت والا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[e]Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how evil was the end of those who were before them? And they were stronger than these in power. And Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or the earth can frustrate His plans;[2424] verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.

It is God’s unalterable decree that all the plans and plots of disbelievers to bring the Holy Prophet to naught will end in failure and the cause of Islam will triumph.

English - Five Volume Translation

[d]Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how evil was the end of those who were before them? And they were stronger than these in power. And Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or the earth should frustrate His plans; verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.[3211]

Commentary:

The verse means to say that if disbelievers have any doubt that their rejection of and opposition to the Holy Prophet will not be punished, then let them "travel in the earth and see how evil was the end of those who were before them," and who rejected God’s Prophets in their own time. Let them remember that it is God’s unalterable decree that all their plans and plots to bring the Holy Prophet to naught will end in failure and the cause of Islam will triumph over disbelief.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کیا یہ لوگ زمین میں کبھی چلے پھرے نہیں ہیں کہ انہیں اُن لوگوں کا انجام نظر آتا جو اِن سے پہلے گزر چکے ہیں اور ان سے بہت زیادہ طاقت ور تھے؟ اللہ کو کوئی چیز عاجز کرنے والی نہیں ہے، نہ آسمانوں میں اور نہ زمین میں وہ سب کچھ جانتا ہے اور ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھتا ہے

English - Sahih

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allah is not to be caused failure by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

کیا انہوں نے زمین میں سیر نہیں کی کہ وہ دیکھتے ان لوگو ں کا کیسا برا انجام ہوا جو ان سے پہلے تھے اور وہ ان سے زیادہ طاقتور تھے اور الله ایسا نہیں ہے کہ اسے کوئی چیز آسمانوں میں اور نہ زمین میں عاجز کر دے بے شک وہ جاننے والا قدرت والا ہے

English - Talal Itani

Have they not traveled in the land and seen how was (the) end (of) those who (were) before them? And they were stronger than them (in) power. But not is Allah that can escape (from) Him any thing in the heavens and not in the earth. Indeed, He is All-Knower, All-Powerful.

English - Arberry

What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than themselves in might; but God -- there is naught in the heavens or the earth that can frustrate Him. Surely He is All-knowing, All-powerful.

English - Maududi

Have they not journeyed in the earth to behold the end of those who went before them though they were stronger than them in might? Nothing in the heavens nor on earth can frustrate Him in the least. He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.

English - Ahmed Ali

Have they not journeyed in the land and seen how the end of those before them, who were far more powerful, came about? There is nothing in the heavens and the earth that can defeat (the law of) God. He is all-knowing and all-powerful.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the End of those before them,- though they were superior to them in strength? Nor is Allah to be frustrated by anything whatever in the heavens or on earth: for He is All-Knowing. All-Powerful.

Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth Him. Lo! He is the Wise, the Mighty.
