اِسۡتِکۡبَارًا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ وَمَکۡرَ السَّیِّئِ ۚ وَلَا یَحِیۡقُ الۡمَکۡرُ السَّیِّئُ اِلَّا بِاَہۡلِہٖ ۚ فَہَلۡ یَنۡظُرُوۡنَ اِلَّا سُنَّتَ الۡاَوَّلِیۡنَ ۚ فَلَنۡ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللّٰہِ تَبۡدِیۡلًا ۖ وَّلَنۡ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللّٰہِ تَحۡوِیۡلًا
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Out of arrogance in the earth and evil plotting. But the evil plot encompasses none but the authors thereof. Do they then look for anything but God’s way of dealing with the peoples of old? But thou wilt never find any change in the way of Allah; nor wilt thou ever find any alteration in the way of Allah.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
(ان کے) زمین میں تکبر کرنے اور بُرے مکر کرنے کی وجہ سے۔ اور بری تدبیر نہیں گھیرتی مگر خود صاحبِ تدبیر کو۔ پس کیا وہ پہلے لوگوں (پر جاری ہونے والی اللہ) کی سنّت کے سوا کوئی اور انتظار کر رہے ہیں؟ پس تُو ہرگز اللہ کی سنّت میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں پائے گا اور تُو ہرگز اللہ کی سنت میں کوئی تغیر نہیں پائے گا۔
French
A cause de leur orgueil sur la terre et de leurs machinations perfides. Mais les machinations n’enveloppent nuls autres que leurs auteurs. Est-ce donc qu’ils s’attendent à autre chose qu’au traitement qu’Allāh a infligé aux peuples d’antan ? Mais jamais tu ne trouveras quelque changement dans la pratique d’Allāh ; et jamais tu ne trouveras non plus de variation dans la pratique d’Allāh.

in Hochmut auf Erden und im bösen Planen. Doch der böse Plan fängt nur seine Urheber ein. Erwarten sie denn etwas anderes als das Verfahren gegenüber den Früheren? Aber in Allahs Verfahren wirst du nie eine Änderung finden; und in Allahs Verfahren wirst du nie einen Wechsel finden.

Questo perché erano stati arroganti sulla terra e avevano tramato intrighi maligni. Ma gli intrighi maligni non colpiranno se non i loro autori. Cercano forse qualcos'altro, se non il modo in cui Dio si è comportato con gli antichi? Tu non troverai mai un cambiamento nel modo di comportarsi di Allah. Né troverai mai alcuna alterazione nel modo di comportarsi di Allah.

Por su arrogancia en la tierra y sus perversas maquinaciones. Pero la maquinación perversa sólo asedia a sus autores. ¿Acaso buscan algo istinto a la manera habitual de Dios de tratar a los pueblos de la antigüedad? Mas nunca encontrarás cambio alguno en el modo de obrar de Al‑lah; ni encontrarás alteración alguna en Su modo de obrar.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
کیونکہ وہ زمین میں بڑا بننا چاہتے تھے اور بری تدبیریں کرنا چاہتے تھے اور بری تدبیر اس کے کرنے والوں کو ہی ہلاک کیا کرتی ہے۔ پس کیا وہ صرف پہلوں کی سنت (یعنی عذاب) کا تو انتظار نہیں کر رہے (اور اگر تو غور کرے) تو اللہ کی سنت میں کبھی تبدیلی نہیں پائے گا اور نہ تو کبھی سنت اللہ کو ٹلتے ہوئے دیکھے گا۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
[c]For, they sought exaltation in the earth and devised evil schemes. But the evil schemes encompass none but the authors thereof. Do they, then, look for anything other than Allah’s way of dealing with the people of old? But thou wilt never find any [d]change in the way of Allah; nor wilt thou ever find any alteration in the way of Allah.

Commentary:
The verse warns disbelievers that if they persist in their disbelief, they will be punished like disbelievers of the Prophets of yore. It is an established and invariable Divine law that opposition to Divine laws never goes unpunished. This fact is writ large on the history of all revealed religions. This is God’s way and God’s ways never change.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
یہ زمین میں اور زیادہ استکبار کرنے لگے اور بری بری چالیں چلنے لگے، حالانکہ بُری چالیں اپنے چلنے والوں ہی کو لے بیٹھتی ہیں اب کیا یہ لوگ اِس کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں کہ پچھلی قوموں کے ساتھ اللہ کا جو طریقہ رہا ہے وہی اِن کے ساتھ بھی برتا جائے؟ یہی بات ہے تو تم اللہ کے طریقے میں ہرگز کوئی تبدیلی نہ پاؤ گے اور تم کبھی نہ دیکھو گے کہ اللہ کی سنت کو اس کے مقرر راستے سے کوئی طاقت پھیر سکتی ہے
English - Sahih
[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way of Allah any change, and you will never find in the way of Allah any alteration.
اردو ترجمہ احمد علی
کہ ملک میں سرکشی اور بری تدبیریں کرنے لگ گئے اور بری تدبیر تو تدبیرکرنے والے ہی پر لٹ پڑتی ہے پھر کیا وہ اسی برتاؤ کے منتظر ہیں جو پہلے لوگوں سے برتا گیا پس تو الله کے قانون میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں پائے گا اورتو الله کے قانوں میں کوئی تغیر نہیں پائے گا
English - Talal Itani
(Due to) arrogance in the land and plotting (of) the evil; but not encompasses the plot (of) the evil except its own people. Then do they wait except (the) way (of) the former (people)? But never you will find in (the) way (of) Allah any change, and never you will find in (the) way (of) Allah any alteration.

English - Arberry
waxing proud in the land, and devising evil; but evil devising encompasses only those who do it; So do they expect anything but the wont of the ancients? And thou shalt never find any changing the Wont of God, and thou shalt never find any altering the wont of God.
English - Maududi
They began to wax even more proud on earth and contrived evil designs although the contriving of evil designs only overtakes their authors. Are they waiting, then, for anything except what happened to the nations before them? You shall not find any change in the Way of Allah; and you shall not find anything that can ever alter the Way of Allah.

As did their arrogance in the land, and their plotting of evil. But their evil plots will turn back on the plotters themselves. So can they expect any thing but what befell the earlier people? You will not find any change in the law of God, nor will you find divine law mutable.

On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? Commentary:

(Shown in their) behaving arrogantly in the land and plotting evil; and the evil plot encloseth but the men who make it. Then, can they expect aught save the treatment of the folk of old? Thou wilt not find for Allah's way of treatment any substitute, nor wilt thou find for Allah's way of treatment aught of power to change.
