أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ

Have they not seen how many generations We have destroyed before them, and that they never return to them?

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ کتنی ہی نسلیں ہم نے اُن سے پہلے ہلاک کر دیں۔ یقیناً وہ ان کی طرف لوٹ کر نہیں آئیں گی۔

N’ont-ils pas vu combien de générations Nous avons anéanties avant eux et qu’elles ne retournent jamais à eux ?

Haben sie nicht gesehen, wie viele Geschlechter Wir schon vor ihnen vernichtet haben (und) dass sie nicht zu ihnen zurückkehren?

کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ان سے پہلے کتنی ہی بستیوں کو ہم ہلاک کر چکے ہیں (اور یہ بھی کہ جن کو ہلاک کیا گیا تھا) وہ واپس نہیں لوٹتے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[c]Do they not see how many generations We have destroyed before them, and that [d]they never come back to them?[2443]

The reference seems to be to Divine punishment which will be universal in character.

Commentary:

The expression انھم الیھم لایرجعون may mean; (a) those who are destroyed do not come back to those who mock the Prophets; (b) the past generations were destroyed because they did not turn to their Prophets, i.e. did not listen to them.

کیا انہوں نے دیکھا نہیں کہ ان سے پہلے کتنی ہی قوموں کو ہم ہلاک کر چکے ہیں اور اس کے بعد وہ پھر کبھی ان کی طرف پلٹ کر نہ آئے؟
