وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when it is said to them, ‘Spend out of that with which Allah has provided you,’ those who disbelieve say to those who believe, ‘Shall we feed him whom Allah would have fed, if He had so willed? You are but in manifest error.’

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اللہ نے جو رزق تمہیں عطا کیا ہے اس میں سے خرچ کرو تو وہ لوگ جنہوں نے کفر کیا ان لوگوں سے جو ایمان لائے ہیں کہتے ہیں کیا ہم انہیں کھلائیں جن کو اللہ اگر چاہتا تو خود کھلاتا؟ تم تو محض ایک کھلی کھلی گمراہی میں پڑے ہوئے ہو۔

French

Et lorsqu’il leur est dit : « Dépensez de la provision qu'Allāh vous a accordée », les mécréants disent aux croyants : « Devons-nous nourrir celui qu’Allāh aurait nourri, s’Il l’avait voulu ? Vous n’êtes que dans une erreur manifeste ! »

German

Und wenn zu ihnen gesprochen wird: "Spendet von dem, was Allah euch gegeben hat", sagen die Ungläubigen zu den Gläubigen: "Sollen wir einen speisen, den Allah hätte speisen können, wenn Er es gewollt? Ihr seid da zweifellos in offenkundigem Irrtum."

每当他们被告知: “你们要施用安拉所赐与你们的东西,” 不信的人对信的人说: [b]“我们何必供养他? 如果安拉意欲, 他原是也可以供养他的。你们 (给人违反安拉意旨的教义,) 陷入了明显的迷误之中。”

E quando vien detto loro: «Dispensate di quanto Allah vi ha dato», quelli che non credono dicono a quelli che credono: «Dovremmo forse nutrire colui che Allah avrebbe potuto nutrire, se lo avesse voluto? Siete in errore palese.»

Spanish

Mas cuando se les dice: “Emplead de lo que Al‑lah os ha proporcionado”, los incrédulos dicen a los creyentes: “¿Debemos limentar a quien Al‑lah habría alimentado si Él lo hubiese así querido? Estáis en un error evidente”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ جو کچھ تم کو خدا نے دیا ہے اس سے خرچ کرو‘ تو کافر مومنوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ کیا ہم ان کو کھلائیں جن کو اگر اللہ چاہتا تو آپ بھی کھلا سکتا تھا تم (تو خدا کی مرضی کے خلاف تعلیم دے کر) کھلی کھلی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہو۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And when it is said to them, ‘Spend out of that which Allah has given you,’ those who disbelieve say to those who believe, [b]‘Shall we feed him whom Allah would have fed, if He had so willed? You are but in manifest error.’

3:182; 5:65.

English - Five Volume Translation

And when it is said to them, ‘Spend out of that with which Allah has provided you,’ those who disbelieve say to those who believe, [a]‘Shall we feed him whom Allah would have fed, if He had so willed? You are but in manifest error.’[3245]

Commentary:

The verse seems to imply that the Divine punishment referred to in the preceding verses which will overtake the materialistic Christian nations, will take the form of a revolt on the part of the suppressed and starved nations of the east. The eastern nations will rebel and revolt because the western nations will have mercilessly exploited them and carried all their wealth to the west and denied them even bare subsistence. It is to this exploitation of the weak eastern nations by the strong western nations that the reference is made in the words "shall we feed him whom Allah would have fed, if He had so willed."

اور جب اِن سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اللہ نے جو رزق تمہیں عطا کیا ہے اُس میں سے کچھ اللہ کی راہ میں بھی خرچ کرو تو یہ لوگ جنہوں نے کفر کیا ہے ایمان لانے والوں کو جواب دیتے ہیں "کیا ہم اُن کو کھلائیں جنہیں اگر اللہ چاہتا تو خود کھلا دیتا؟ تم تو بالکل ہی بہک گئے ہو"

English - Sahih

And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error."

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہےکہ الله کے رزق میں سے کچھ خرچ کیا کرو تو کافر ایمانداروں سے کہتے ہیں کیا ہم اسے کھلائیں گےکہ اگر الله چاہتا تو خود اسے کھلا سکتا تھا تم جو ہو تو صاف گمراہی میں پڑے ہوئے ہو

And when it is said to them, "Spend from what (has) provided you Allah." Said those who disbelieved to those who believed, "Should we feed whom if Allah willed - He would have fed him?" Not (are) you except in an error clear.

And when it is said to them, 'Expend of that God has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!'

And when it is said to them: “Spend (in the Way of Allah) out of the sustenance that Allah has provided you,” the unbelievers say to the believers: “Shall we feed him whom, Allah would have fed, had He so wished?” Say: “You are in evident error.”
