عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِیۡنَ

Seated on thrones, facing one another.

تختوں پر آمنے سامنے بیٹھے ہوئے ہوں گے۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

وہ چھپرکھٹوں پر آمنے سامنے[3] بیٹھیں گے۔

یعنی ایک مسلمان دوسرے کا دشمن نہ ہوگا یعنی اس کی طرف منہ کرے گا۔ اس سے منہ نہیں پھیرے گا۔

Important Words:

سرر (thrones) or أسرة is the plural of سریر which is derived from سر. They say سرہ i.e. he or it made him happy. سریر means, a couch-frame; a bed-stead; a raised couch; a throne. It also signifies a bier; dominion, authority, sovereignty; comfort or affluence. The Arabs say زال عن سریرہ i.e. he ceased to enjoy authority, power or comfort or affluence (Lane & Aqrab).
