أَتَّخَذْنَٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘Is it because we subjected them to ridicule unjustly, or have the eyes missed them?’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

کیا ہم نے انہیں حقیر سمجھ رکھا تھا یا اُن (کی پہچان) سے ہماری نظریں چُوک گئیں؟

French

Est-ce parce que nous les tournions en ridicule injustement, ou est-ce qu’ils ont échappé à nos regards ? »

German

Sollte es sein, dass wir sie (ungerechterweise) zum Gespött machten, oder haben die Augen sie verfehlt?"

“这是否因为我们 (非正义地) 把他们当作笑柄, 或者这时眼已达不到他们了?”

Italian

È forse perché li sottoponemmo ingiustamente allo scherno, oppure perché ci sfuggono allo sguardo?»

“¿Es porque los pusimos en ridículo inj ustamente, o es que escapan a nuestras miradas?”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کیا ہم ان کو (یونہی اپنے دلی خیال کی وجہ سے) حقیر سمجھتے تھے یا اس وقت ہماری آنکھیں کج ہو گئی ہیں (اور وہ ہمیں نظر نہیں آتے) ۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

‘Is it because we unjustly took them for a laughing-stock, or have the eyes missed[2550] them?’

The inmates of Hell will say to one another, 'What is the matter with us that we do not see here those men whom we looked upon as of no consequence and ridiculed in the earthly life. Did they not deserve our ridicule and were really good and godly men, or are they in Hell but we do not see them?'

English - Five Volume Translation

Is it because we unjustly took them for a laughing stock or have the eyes missed them?’[3424]

Commentary:

The verse means to say that the inmates of Hell will say to one another, "What is the matter with us that we do not see here those men whom we looked down upon as of no consequence and whom we mocked and ridiculed in the earthly life. Did they not deserve our ridicule and were really good and godly men or are they in Hell but we do not see them?"

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

ہم نے یونہی ان کا مذاق بنا لیا تھا، یا وہ کہیں نظروں سے اوجھل ہیں؟"

English - Sahih

Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?"

کیا ہم ان سے (ناحق) تمسخر کرتے تھے یا ان سے ہماری نگاہیں پھر گئی ہیں
