وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟ بِهِۦ مِن سُوٓءِ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۚ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَحْتَسِبُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And even if the wrongdoers possessed all that is in the earth, and the like thereof in addition to it, they would surely seek to ransom themselves with it from the evil punishment on the Day of Resurrection; but there shall appear unto them, from Allah, that which they never thought of.

اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے اگر وہ سب کا سب ان کا ہوتا جنہوں نے ظلم کیا اور ویسا ہی اور بھی تب بھی ضرور وہ اسے قیامت کے دن بُرے عذاب سے بچنے کے لئے فدیہ میں دے دیتے اور اُن کے لئے اللہ کی طرف سے وہ ظاہر ہوگا جس کا وہ گمان نہیں کیا کرتے تھے۔

French

Et si les injustes possédaient tout ce qui est sur la terre, et autant encore, ils l’offriraient en rançon pour échapper au pire châtiment au Jour de la Résurrection, mais de la part d’Allāh, il leur apparaîtra clair ce qu’ils n’avaient jamais imaginé.

German

Besäßen die Ungerechten auch alles, was auf Erden ist, und noch einmal so viel dazu, sie würden sich gewiss damit loskaufen wollen von der schlimmen Strafe am Tage der Auferstehung; aber es wird ihnen von Allah das erscheinen, was sie nimmermehr erwartet.

[a]纵使不义的人拥有大地所有的一切, 甚至再加上一倍, 他们也必将用它赎回自己, 以免复生日不幸的惩罚; 但是他们还是要面临从安拉那里来的他们所逆料不到的 (惩罚)。

E persino se i malvagi possedessero tutto quello che c'è sulla terra, e altrettanto in aggiunta a questo, per certo essi cercherebbero di riscattarsi con ciò, per sfuggire all'iniquo castigo nel Giorno della risurrezione. Ma allora apparirà davanti a loro, da parte di Allah, quello a cui non avevano mai pensato.

Si los inicuos poseyeran todo lo que hay en la tierra y el doble de todo ello, ciertamente desearían rescatarse con ello del severo castigo del Día de la Resurrección; pero recibirán de Al‑lah lo que nunca pensaron.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور اگر ظالم لوگ زمین میں جو کچھ ہے اس کے مالک ہوتے بلکہ اتنا ہی اور بھی ان کے پاس ہوتا تو وہ قیامت کے دن عذاب سے بچنے کے لئے اسے فدیہ کے طور پر دے دیتے اور اللہ کی طرف سے ان پر وہ کچھ ظاہر ہو جائے گا۔ جس کا وہ گمان بھی نہیں رکھتے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[c]And even if the wrongdoers possessed all that is in the earth, and the like thereof in addition to it, they would, surely, seek to ransom themselves with it to escape from the evil punishment on the Day of Resurrection, but there shall appear unto them from Allah that which they had never thought of.

[a]And even if the wrongdoers possessed all that is in the earth, and the like thereof in addition to it, they would surely seek to ransom themselves with it to escape from the evil punishment on the Day of Resurrection; but there shall appear unto them, from Allah that which they never thought of.[3471]

Commentary:

The expression "Day of Resurrection" in the verse may apply both to the last Judgement Day and the day of the final triumph of Islam. That great event took place before the very eyes of disbelievers, when idolatry departed from Arabia never to return. The disbelievers could never conceive of such an event taking place. This may be the significance of the words, but there shall appear unto them from Allah that which they never thought. Or the words may mean that evil consequences of the evil deeds which disbelievers did in this life will appear before them in an embodied form in the life to come, and of that eventuality they had no idea.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اگر اِن ظالموں کے پاس زمین کی ساری دولت بھی ہو، اور اتنی ہی اور بھی، تو یہ روز قیامت کے برے عذاب سے بچنے کے لیے سب کچھ فدیے میں دینے کے لیے تیار ہو جائیں گے وہاں اللہ کی طرف سے ان کے سامنے وہ کچھ آئے گا جس کا انہوں نے کبھی اندازہ ہی نہیں کیا ہے

English - Sahih

And if those who did wrong had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from Allah that which they had not taken into account.

اور اگر ظالموں کے پاس جو کچھ زمین میں ہے سب ہو اور اسی قدر اس کے ساتھ اور بھی ہو تو قیامت کے بڑے عذاب کے معاوضہ میں دے کر چھوٹنا چاہیں گے اور اللہ کی طرف سے انہیں وہ پیش آئے گا کہ جس کا انہیں گمان بھی نہ تھا

English - Talal Itani

And if those who did wrong (had) whatever (is) in the earth all and (the) like of it with it, they would ransom with it from (the) evil (of) the punishment (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection. And (will) appear to them from Allah what not they had taken into account.

If the evildoers possessed all that is in the earth, and the like of it with it, they would offer it to ransom themselves from the evil of the chastisement on the Day of Resurrection; yet there would appear to them from God that they never reckoned with,

English - Maududi

If the wrong-doers possessed the treasures of the earth in their entirety and as much besides, they would gladly offer it on the Day of Resurrection to redeem themselves from the harrowing chastisement. This because there will appear to them from Allah something (exceedingly dismal which) they had never even imagined.

Even if the sinners possessed whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and as much more, they would offer it to ransom themselves from the torment of the Day of Resurrection; yet what they did not even imagine would appear to them from God;

Even if the wrong-doers had all that there is on earth, and as much more, (in vain) would they offer it for ransom from the pain of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment: but something will confront them from Allah, which they could never have counted upon!
