اَوۡ تَقُوۡلَ حِیۡنَ تَرَی الۡعَذَابَ لَوۡ اَنَّ لِیۡ کَرَّۃً فَاَکُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

“Or lest it should say, when it sees the punishment, ‘Would that there were for me a return to the world, I would then be among those who do good!’”

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یا یہ کہے جب وہ عذاب کو دیکھے کہ کاش! ایک دفعہ میرے لئے لوٹ کر جانا ممکن ہوتا تو میں ضرور نیکی کرنے والوں میں سے ہو جاتا۔

French

Ou pour qu’elle ne dise pas, lorsqu’elle verra le châtiment : « Que n’y a-t-il pas pour moi un retour au monde ; je serais alors du nombre de ceux qui font le bien ! »

oder damit nicht einer spräche, wenn er die Strafe sieht: "Gäbe es für mich doch Wiederkehr, dann wollte ich unter denen sein, die Gutes tun."»

或当他看见惩罚时, 他说: “要是我归返 (尘世), 那么, 我也将是一个行善的人。”

Oppure, affinché non si dica, alla vista del castigo: «Se potessi ritornare nel mondo, anch'io sarei tra quelli che operano il bene!»

“O que diga cuando observe el castigo: “¡Si pudiera volver al mundo, sería entonces de aquellos que practican el bien!”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یا جب عذاب کو دیکھے تو کہنے لگے کہ اگر مجھے واپس جانے کا موقعہ ملتا‘ تو میں محسنوں میں شامل ہو جاتا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Or, lest it should say, when it sees the punishment, ‘Would that there were for me a return to the world, I would then be among those who do good.’

English - Five Volume Translation

Or lest it should say, when it sees the punishment, ‘Would that there were for me a [b]return to the world, I would then be among those who do good!’”[3478]

Commentary:

The present and the previous two verses describe the state of a disbeliever when by his persistent evil deeds he incurs Divine displeasure, and punishment stares him in the face.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

یا عذاب دیکھ کر کہے "کاش مجھے ایک موقع اور مل جائے اور میں بھی نیک عمل کرنے والوں میں شامل ہو جاؤں"

English - Sahih

Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good."

یا کہنے لگے جس وقت عذاب کو دیکھے گا کہ کاش مجھے میسر ہو واپس لوٹنا تو میں نیکو کاروں میں سے ہوجاؤں

it should say, when it sees the chastisement, 'O that I might return again, and be among the good-doers.'

or lest he should say, when he sees the chastisement: “O that I might return again, and be among those who do good.”

Or say on seeing the punishment: "If I could only return I would be among the good."
