وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِىَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا ۖ وَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And We showed them no Sign but it was greater than its preceding sister, and We seized them with punishment, that they might turn to Us.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور ہم انہیں کوئی (روشن) آیت نہیں دکھاتے تھے مگر وہ اپنے جیسی پہلی آیت سے بڑھ کر ہوتی تھی ۔ اور ہم نے انہیں عذاب کے ذریعہ پکڑا تاکہ وہ رجوع کریں۔
French
Et Nous ne leur fîmes voir aucun Signe qui ne fût plus grand que son précédent, et Nous les saisîmes par le châtiment afin qu’ils se tournent vers Nous.

Und Wir zeigten ihnen nicht ein Zeichen, das nicht größer gewesen wäre als sein Vorgänger, und Wir erfassten sie mit Strafe, auf dass sie sich bekehren möchten.

凡我显示他们的迹象, 都是后者比前者大的。我以刑罚惩治他们, 以便他们归顺 (我)。

No les mostramos ningún Signo que no fuese mayor que el que loprecedió, y les enviamos el castigo, para que volvieran a Nosotros.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور ہم ان کو جو نشان بھی دکھاتے تھے وہ اپنے سے پہلے نشان سے بڑا ہوتا تھا اور ہم نے ان کو عذاب میں مبتلا کر دیا تھا تا کہ وہ (اپنی بداعمالیوں سے) لوٹ جائیں۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
And We showed them no Sign but it was greater than its preceding sister Sign, and We seized them with punishment, that they might turn to Us.

And We showed them no Sign but it was greater than its preceding sister Sign, and We seized them with punishment, that they might turn to Us.[3674]
Important Words:
أخت (sister) is the feminine of أخ. They say أخاہ i.e. he became a brother, a friend or a companion to him. آخاہ (akhahu) means, he fraternised with him; acted with him in a brotherly manner. اخیت بین الشیئین means, I united the two things. أخ means, a brother; a friend; a companion, or associate or a fellow, and أخت means, a sister (Lane & Aqrab).

ہم ایک پر ایک ایسی نشانی اُن کو دکھاتے چلے گئے جو پہلی سے بڑھ چڑھ کر تھی، اور ہم نے اُن کو عذاب میں دھر لیا تاکہ وہ اپنی روش سے باز آئیں

And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
