47:22

طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوفٌ ۚ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ ٱلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Obedience and a kind word is better for them. And when the matter is determined upon, it is good for them if they were true to Allah.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اطاعت اور معروف بات چاہئے۔ پس اب جبکہ یہ امر مستحکم ہوچکا ہے اگر وہ اللہ کے ساتھ مخلص رہتے تو ضرور ان کے لئے بہتر ہوتا۔

French

L’obéissance et une parole convenable auraient été meilleures pour eux. Et quand l’affaire est décidée, il vaudrait mieux pour eux qu’ils soient fidèles à Allāh.

German

Gehorsam und ein gutes Wort (wäre besser für sie). Und wenn die Sache beschlossen ist, dann wäre es für sie am besten, sie würden Allah treu bleiben.

Chinese

(他们的态度应当是) 服从[a]和号召 (人们) 为善。当事情业已决定 (战争发动) 时, 如果他们真诚对待安拉 (履行服从的许约), 那对他们是好的。

Italian

L'obbedienza e una parola buona sarebbero meglio per loro. E una volta decisa la cosa, buon per loro se sono stati sinceri con Allah.

Spanish

Para ellos lo mejor es la obediencia y una palabra amable. Mas cuando se decida el asunto, lo mejor para ellos es que hayan sido veraces con Al-lah.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(ان کا اصل طریق یہ ہونا چاہیئے تھا کہ وہ کہتے کہ ہمیں کسی جلد بازی کی ضرورت نہیں) ہمارا کام تو اطاعت کرنا اور (لوگوں کو) نیک باتیں سنانا ہے پھر جب بات پختہ ہو جاتی (یعنی لڑائی چھڑ جاتی) تو اگر وہ اللہ کے حضور سچے بنتے (یعنی جو اطاعت کا وعدہ کیا تھا اسے پورا کر دیتے) تو یہ ان کے لئے بہتر ہوتا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Their attitude should have been one of obedience [a]and of calling people to good. And when the matter was determined upon, it was good for them if they were true to Allah.

2:264.

English - Five Volume Translation

Obedience and [a]reasonable speech is proper for them. And when the matter is determined upon, it is good for them if they were true to Allah.[3806]

Important Words:

صدقوا اللّٰه (were true to Allah). صدق فی الحدیث means, he told or spoke the truth. صدق فی القتال means, he fought well; he gave a good account of himself in the fight. صدق اللقاء means, he was firm in fight صدق الصبح means, the dawn shone clearly. صدقنی وعدہmeans, he fulfilled, or he was true to his promise with me. The Quranic expression صدقوا ما عاھدوا اللّٰه علیه (33:24) means, they were true to their covenant with Allah and fulfilled it (Lane & Aqrab).

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

(اُن کی زبان پر ہے) اطاعت کا اقرار اور اچھی اچھی باتیں مگر جب قطعی حکم دے دیا گیا اُس وقت وہ اللہ سے اپنے عہد میں سچے نکلتے تو انہی کے لئے اچھا تھا

English - Sahih

Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

حکم ماننا اور نیک بات کہنا (لازم ہے) پس جب بات قرار پا جائے تو اگر وہ الله کے سچے رہے تو ان کے لیے بہتر ہے

(Is) obedience and a word kind. And when (is) determined the matter, then if they had been true (to) Allah, surely, it would have been better for them.
