۞ أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Has not the time arrived for those who believe that their hearts should feel humbled at the remembrance of Allah and at the truth which has come down to them, and that they should not become like those who were given the Book before them and the term was prolonged for them, but their hearts were hardened, and many of them are wicked?

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

کیا ان لوگوں کے لئے جو ایمان لائے وقت نہیں آیا کہ اللہ کے ذکر اور اُس حق (کے رعب) سے جو اُترا ہے ان کے دل پھٹ کر گر جائیں اور وہ ان لوگوں کی طرح نہ بنیں جو پہلے کتاب دیئے گئے تھے؟ پس ان پر زمانہ طول پکڑ گیا تو ان کے دل سخت ہوگئے اور بہت سے ان میں سے بدعہد تھے۔

French

Le moment n’est-il pas venu pour ceux qui croient, que leur cœur s’humilie au souvenir d’Allāh et à la vérité qui est descendue, et qu’ils ne deviennent pas pareils à ceux à qui le Livre avait été donné avant eux, et pour qui le terme avait été prolongé, mais leur cœur s’était endurci, et beaucoup d’entre eux devinrent des rebelles ?

German

Ist nicht für die Gläubigen die Zeit gekommen, dass ihre Herzen sich demütigen vor der Ermahnung Allahs und vor der Wahrheit, die herabkam, und dass sie nicht würden wie jene, denen zuvor die Schrift gegeben und deren Frist verlängert ward, doch ihre Herzen waren verstockt und viele von ihnen wurden ungehorsam?

Chinese

(我们对信仰者说:) “现在还未到他们虚心记念安拉和启示(他们) 的真理的时候吗?” 信仰的人不要像他们之前有经的人, 那些人因为 (安拉的恩惠降给他们的) [a]时期离他们长了, 他们的[b]心变硬了, 他们大多数人都是邪恶的。

Italian

Non è forse arrivato il tempo, per quelli che credono, che i loro cuori s'umilino al ricordo di Allah e alla verità che è scesa su di loro, e che non diventino uguali a quelli cui era stato dato il libro prima di loro? Per questi, il periodo era stato prolungato, ma indurirono i loro cuori e molti di essi divennero malvagi.

¿Acaso no ha llegado el momento para los creyentes de que sus corazones se sientan humildes ante el recuerdo de Al-lah y ante la verdad que les ha sido revelada, y de que no se vuelvan como aquellos a los que se entregó anteriormente el Libro y cuyo período fue prolongado, pero cuyos corazones quedaron endurecidos, siendo muchos de ellos malvados?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اب ہم مومنوں سے کہتے ہیں کہ کیا اب تک ان کے دل اللہ کے ذکر کے لئے اور اس کلام کے لئے جو حق (وحکمت) کے ساتھ اترا ہے جھکتے نہیں؟ اور (مومنوں کو) چاہیے کہ وہ ان لوگوں کی طرح نہ بنیں جن کو ان سے پہلے کتاب دی گئی تھی۔ لیکن (خدا کے فضل کے نزول کا) زمانہ ان کے لئے لمبا ہو گیا۔ جس کے نتیجہ میں ان کے دل سخت ہو گئے اور ان میں سے اکثر فاسق ہو گئے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Has not the time yet arrived for those who believe that their hearts should feel humbled at the remembrance of Allah and at the truth which has come down to them, and that they should not become like those who were given the Book before them, but because the period of the bestowal of Allah’s grace upon [a]them was prolonged for them, their [b]hearts became hardened, and many of them became rebellious?

Has not the time arrived for those who believe that their hearts should feel humbled at the remembrance of Allah and at the truth which has come down to them, and that they should not become like those who were given the Book before them, but because the period of the descentof Allah’s grace upon them was prolonged for them,[b] their hearts became hardened,[c] and many of them are wicked?[4159]

21:45.

Commentary:

The verse seems to refer to the latter-day Muslims when as a result of neglecting the teachings of Islam they will have become spiritually corrupt, morally depraved and politically impotent. The verse means to bring home to them the realization of their all-round degradation and makes to them a pathetic appeal. "Has not the time arrived yet," it seems to say to them, "now that they have sunk to the lowest depths of degradation, they should turn to God and act upon the teachings of their religion which once raised them to the highest peaks of greatness, grandeur and glory."

کیا ایمان لانے والوں کے لیے ابھی وہ وقت نہیں آیا کہ اُن کے دل اللہ کے ذکر سے پگھلیں اور اُس کے نازل کردہ حق کے آگے جھکیں اور وہ اُن لوگوں کی طرح نہ ہو جائیں جنہیں پہلے کتاب دی گئی تھی، پھر ایک لمبی مدت اُن پر گزر گئی تو ان کے دل سخت ہو گئے اور آج ان میں سے اکثر فاسق بنے ہوئے ہیں؟

English - Sahih

Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.

کیا ایمان والوں کے لیے اس بات کا وقت نہیں آیا کہ ان کے دل الله کی نصیحت اور جو دین حق نازل ہوا ہے اس کے سامنے جھک جائیں اور ان لوگوں کی طرح نہ ہوجائیں جنہیں ان سے پہلے کتاب (آسمانی) ملی تھی پھر ان پر مدت لمبی ہو گئی تو ان کے دل سخت ہو گئے اور ان میں سے بہت سے نافرمان ہیں

Has not come (the) time for those who believed that become humble their hearts at (the) remembrance (of) Allah and what has come down of the truth? Is it not time that the hearts of those who believe should be humbled to the Remembrance of God and the Truth which He has sent down, and that they should not be as those to whom the Book was given aforetime, and the term seemed over long to them, so that their hearts have become hard, and many of them are ungodly?

English - Maududi

Is the time not come that the hearts of the believers should be humbled to Allah's remembrance and to the Truth that He has revealed, and that they should not be like those who were vouchsafed the Book and then a long time elapsed so that their hearts were hardened? A great many of them are now evil-doers.

Has the moment not yet come when the hearts of believers should be moved by the thought of God and the truth that has been sent down, so that they should not be like those who received the Book before them but whose hearts were hardened after a lapse of time, and many of them turned disobedient?
