58:5
فَمَنۡ لَّمۡ یَجِدۡ فَصِیَامُ شَہۡرَیۡنِ مُتَتَابِعَیۡنِ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ یَّتَمَآسَّا ۖ فَمَنۡ لَّمۡ یَسۡتَطِعۡ فَاِطۡعَامُ سِتِّیۡنَ مِسۡکِیۡنًا ۚ ذٰلِکَ لِتُؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰہِ وَرَسُوۡلِہٖ ۚ وَتِلۡکَ حُدُوۡدُ اللّٰہِ ۗ وَلِلۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
But whoso does not find one, he must fast for two successive months, before they touch each other. And whoso is not able to do so, should feed sixty poor people. This is so, that you may truly believe in Allah and His Messenger. And these are the limits prescribed by Allah; and for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
پس جو (اُس کی) استطاعت نہ پائے تو مسلسل دو مہینے کے روزے رکھنا ہے پیشتر اس کے کہ وہ دونوں ایک دوسرے کو چھوئیں۔ پس جو (اِس کی بھی) استطاعت نہ رکھتا ہو تو ساٹھ مسکینوں کو کھانا کھلانا ہے۔ یہ اس لئے ہے کہ تمہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی طرف سے طمانیت نصیب ہو۔یہ اللہ کی حدود ہیں اور کافروں کے لئے بہت ہی دردناک عذاب (مقدر) ہے۔
French
Mais quiconque n’en trouve pas, il doit jeûner pendant deux mois consécutifs, avant qu’ils se touchent. Et quiconque ne peut pas fairecela, doit donner à manger à soixante indigents. Ceci est ainsi, afin que vous croyiez vraiment en Allāh et en Son Messager. Et celles-ci sont les limites prescrites par Allāh, et pour les mécréants il y a un châtiment douloureux.
German
Wer aber keinen findet, dann: zwei Monate hintereinander fasten, bevor sie einander berühren. Und wer es nicht vermag, dann: Speisung von sechzig Armen. Dies, damit ihr euch Allah ergebt und Seinem Gesandten. Das sind die Schranken Allahs; und für die Ungläubigen ist qualvolle Strafe.
Chinese
但凡是没有 (奴隶), 在接触之前他要连续斋戒两月, 不能斋戒者, 要供给六十个穷人 (一天的) 饭食。(你们所以授予) 这项命令是为了叫你们要信从安拉和他使者 (的言语)。这是安拉的法律; 不信的人必遭受痛苦的惩罚。
Italian
Quanto a colui che non trova uno schiavo, deve digiunare per due mesi di seguito, prima che si tocchino. E quanto a chi non è in grado di fare questo, dovrà nutrire sessanta poveri. Questo è quanto vi è imposto affinché crediate veramente in Allah e nel Suo messaggero. E questi sono i limiti stabiliti da Allah. E per i miscredenti c'è un castigo doloroso.
Spanish
Pero quien no encuentra uno, debe ayunar durante dos meses seguidos, antes de que se toquen recíprocamente. Y quien no pueda hacerlo, dará de comer a sesenta necesitados. Esto es así, para que creáis ciertamente en Al-lah y en Su Mensajero. Éstos son los límites prescritos por Al-lah; mas para los incrédulos hay un doloroso castigo.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور جو شخص (غلام) نہ پائے وہ متواتر دو مہینے کے روزے رکھے پیشتر اس کے کہ وہ دونوں ایک دوسرے کو چھوئیں اور جس میں یہ طاقت بھی نہ ہو تو ساٹھ مسکینوں کو کھانا کھلائے۔ یہ (حکم) اس لئے (دیا گیا) ہے تا (کہ) تم اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی بات کو مانا کرو۔ اور یہ اللہ کی حدیں ہیں اور کافروں کے لئے دردناک عذاب (مقرر) ہے ۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
But he who does not find a slave, he must fast for two successive months, before they touch one another. And he who is not able to do so shall feed sixty poor people.[3003] This is enjoined on you so that you may have faith in Allah and His Messenger. And these are the limits prescribed by Allah; and for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.
The drastic punishment mentioned in these verses indicates the extreme seriousness of the crime of calling one’s wife "mother." The relationship with "mother" is too sacred to be trifled with.

But whoso does not find a slave, he must fast for two successive months, before they touch each other. And whoso is not able to do so, must feed sixty poor people. This is so prescribed, that you may truly believe in Allah and His Messenger. And these are the limits prescribed by Allah; and for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.[4175]

The drastic punishment mentioned in these verses indicates the extreme seriousness of the crime of calling one’s wife "mother." The relationship with "mother" is too sacred to be trifled with. The expression لتؤمنوا باللّٰه و رسوله means, you may learn to obey the commandments of Allah and his Messenger.

اور جو شخص غلام نہ پائے وہ دو مہینے کے پے در پے روزے رکھے قبل اس کے کہ دونوں ایک دوسرے کو ہاتھ لگائیں اور جو اس پر بھی قادر نہ ہو وہ ۶۰ مسکینوں کو کھانا کھلائے یہ حکم اس لیے دیا جا رہا ہے کہ تم اللہ اور اُس کے رسول پر ایمان لاؤ یہ اللہ کی مقرر کی ہوئی حدیں ہیں، اور کافروں کے لیے دردناک سزا ہے
English - Sahih
And he who does not find [a slave] - then a fast for two months consecutively before they touch one another; and he who is unable - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe [completely] in Allah and His Messenger; and those are the limits [set by] Allah. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

پس جو شخص نہ پائے تو دو مہینے کے لگاتار روزے رکھے اس سے پہلےکہ ایک دوسرے کو چھوئیں پس جو کوئی ایسا نہ کر سکے تو ساٹھ مسکینوں کو کھانا کھلائے یہ ا س لیے کہ تم الله اور اس کے رسول پر ایمان لاؤ اور یہ الله کی حدیں ہیں اورمنکروں کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے

Then whoever (does) not find, then fasting (for) two months consecutively before [that] they both touch each other. But (he) who not is able then (the) feeding (of) sixty needy one(s). That - so that you may believe in Allah and His Messenger, and these (are the) limits (of) Allah, and for the disbelievers (is) a punishment painful.

English - Arberry
But whosoever finds not the means, then let him fast two successive months, before the two of them touch one another. And if any man is not able to, then let him feed sixty poor persons -- that, that you may believe in God and His Messenger. Those are God's bounds; and for the unbelievers there awaits yet a painful chastisement.
English - Maududi
And he who does not find a slave (to free), shall fast for two months consecutively before they may touch each other; and he who is unable to do so shall feed sixty needy people. All this is in order that you may truly believe in Allah and His Messenger. These are the bounds set by Allah; and a grievous chastisement awaits the unbelievers.

If one does not have the means (of doing so) then he should fast for two months continuously before he has physical contact; but any one who is unable to do so, should feed sixty needy persons. This (is enjoined) so that you may be faithful to God and His Apostle. These are the limits set by God. As for the unbelievers, there is painful punishment for them.
