60:3

إِن يَثْقَفُوكُمْ يَكُونُوا۟ لَكُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَيَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَوَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

If they get the upper hand of you, they show themselves to be your active enemies, and will stretch forth their hands and their tongues towards you with evil intent; and they ardently desire that you should become disbelievers.

اگر وہ تمہیں کہیں پائیں تو تمہارے دشمن ہی رہیں گے اور اپنے ہاتھ اور زبانیں بدنیتی سے تم پر دراز کریں گے اور چاہیں گے کہ کاش تم بھی انکار کردو۔

Ce n’est que s’ils l’emportent sur vous, qu’ils se comporteront ouvertement envers vous en ennemis, et ils tendront vers vous leurs mains et leur langue pour vous faire du mal ; et ils désirent ardemment que vous deveniez mécréants.

Wenn sie die Oberhand über euch gewinnen, dann werden sie sich gegen euch als Feinde betragen und ihre Hände und ihre Zungen zum Bösen gegen euch ausstrecken; und sie wünschen inständig, dass ihr ungläubig würdet.

Se acquisteranno supremazia su di voi, emergeranno come vostri nemici manifesti, e stenderanno verso di voi le loro mani e la loro lingua, con intenzioni cattive. Desiderano ardentemente che diventiate miscredenti.

Sólo si ganan la supremacía sobre vosotros, se mostrarán como vuestros enemigos declarados, y extenderán sus manos y lenguas contra vosotros con malvada intención; pues desean ardientemente que os hagáis incrédulos.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اگر وہ تم پر قابو پالیں تو تم جان لو گے کہ وہ تمہارے دشمن ہیں اور تمہاری تباہی کے لئے اپنے ہاتھ اور زبانیں چلا چلا کر کوشش کر رہے ہیں اور ان کی خواہش یہ رہتی ہے کہ تم کافر ہو جاؤ۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

If they get the upper hand of you, they will be your active enemies, and will stretch forth their hands and their tongues towards you to do you harm; and they ardently desire that you should become disbelievers.

English - Five Volume Translation

If they get the upper hand of you, they will be your active enemies, and will stretch forth their hands and their tongues towards you with evil intent; and they ardently desire that you should become disbelievers.[4211]

Important Words:

یثقفو کم (get the upper hand of you) is derived from ثقف and ثقفه means, he perceived it or attained it by deed or by knowledge; he reached him; he found him; he overtook him; he gained mastery over him; be overcame him and got possession of him (Lane).

Commentary:

The verse indicates how bitter the feelings of disbelievers are towards Muslims. They would use all means, their hands and tongues, etc. and would spare no effort to harm Muslims, and the greatest desire of their hearts is to see them revert to disbelief.

اُن کا رویہ تو یہ ہے کہ اگر تم پر قابو پا جائیں تو تمہارے ساتھ دشمنی کریں اور ہاتھ اور زبان سے تمہیں آزار دیں وہ تو یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ تم کسی طرح کافر ہو جاؤ

If they gain dominance over you, they would be to you as enemies and extend against you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they wish you would disbelieve.
