لَا تَقُمْ فِيهِ أَبَدًا ۚ لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِ ۚ فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَن يَتَطَهَّرُوا۟ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُطَّهِّرِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Never stand to pray therein. A mosque which was founded upon piety from the very first day is surely more worthy that thou shouldst stand to pray therein. In it are men who love to become purified, and Allah loves those who purify themselves.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تُو اس میں کبھی کھڑا نہ ہو۔ یقیناً وہ مسجد جس کی بنیاد پہلے دن ہی سے تقویٰ پر رکھی گئی ہو زیادہ حقدار ہے کہ تُو اس میں (نماز کے لئے) قیام کرے۔ اس میں ایسے مرد ہیں جو خواہش رکھتے ہیں کہ وہ پاک ہو جائیں اور اللہ پاک بننے والوں سے محبت کرتا ہے۔

French

Ne t’y tiens jamais pour prier. Une Mosquée fondée, dès le premier jour, sur la piété, est assurément plus digne que tu t’y tiennes pour prier. A l’intérieur, se trouvent des hommes qui désirent se purifier, et Allāh aime ceux qui se purifient.

German

Stehe nie darin (zum Gebet). Eine Moschee, die auf Frömmigkeit gegründet ward vom allerersten Tag an, ist wahrlich würdiger, dass du darin stehen solltest. In ihr sind Leute, die sich gerne reinigen, und Allah liebt die sich Reinigenden.

(先知啊!) 你永不要站立在那座(礼拜寺) 中。从第一天起就以敬畏精神为基础的礼拜寺更值得你站立其中 (领导拜功)。在那里有喜爱成为完全纯洁的人。安拉喜爱纯洁的人。

Italian

Non starci mai a pregare. Una moschea fondata sin dal primo giorno sulla pietà è certamente più degna che tu vi stia a pregare. Là vi sono uomini che amano purificarsi, e Allah ama coloro che si purificano.

Spanish

Nunca permanezcas allí para rezar. Una mezquita fundada en la piedad desde sus primeros días es más digna de que permanezcas en ella para orar. Allí hay hombres que desean ser purificados, y Al-lah ama a quienes se purifican a sí mismos.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اے نبی)! تو اس (مسجد) میں (کبھی) کھڑا نہ ہو۔ وہ مسجد جس کی بنیاد پہلے دن سے تقویٰ پر رکھی گئی ہے زیادہ حقدار ہے کہ تو اس میں (جماعت کرانے کے لئے) کھڑا ہو۔ اس میں (آنے والے) ایسے لوگ ہیں جو خواہش رکھتے ہیں کہ بالکل پاک ہو جائیں۔ اور اللہ کامل پاکیزگی اختیار کرنے والوں کو پسند کرتا ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Never stand to pray therein. A Mosque founded upon piety from the very first[1218] day is surely more worthy that thou shouldst stand to pray therein. In it are men who love to become purified, and Allah loves those who purify themselves.

The reference is said to be to the Mosque at Quba which was built on the site where the Holy Prophet had alighted before entering Medina on the day of his arrival from Mecca. According to some authorities, however, the reference is to the mosque which the Holy Prophet himself built at Medina and which later came to be known as "the Mosque of the Prophet."

English - Five Volume Translation

Commentary:

According to some traditions the words, A mosque which was founded upon piety from the very first day is surely more worthy, refer to a mosque at Quba which was built on the site where the Holy Prophet had alighted before entering Medina on the day of his arrival from Mecca; while, according to others, these words refer to the Mosque which the Holy Prophet himself built at Medina and which later came to be known as مسجد النبی i.e. "the Mosque of the Prophet." The wording of the verse seems to support the latter view.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

تم ہرگز اس عمارت میں کھڑے نہ ہونا جو مسجد اول روز سے تقویٰ پر قائم کی گئی تھی وہی اس کے لیے زیادہ موزوں ہے کہ تم اس میں (عباد ت کے لیے) کھڑے ہو، اس میں ایسے لوگ ہیں جو پاک رہنا پسند کرتے ہیں اور اللہ کو پاکیزگی اختیار کرنے والے ہی پسند ہیں

English - Sahih

Do not stand [for prayer] within it - ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

تو اس میں کبھی کھڑانہ ہو البتہ وہ مسجد جس کی بنیاد پہلے دن سے پرہیزگاری پر رکھی گئی ہے وہ اس کے قابل ہے تو اس میں کھڑا ہو اس میں ایسے لوگ ہیں جو پاک رہنے کو پسند کرتے ہیں اور الله پاک رہنے والوں کو پسند کرتا ہے

(Do) not stand in it ever. A masjid founded on the righteousness from (the) first day (is) more worthy that you stand in it. Within it (are) men who love to purify themselves, and Allah loves the ones who purify themselves.

Stand there never. A mosque that was founded upon godfearing from the first day is worthier for thee to stand in; therein are men who love to cleanse themselves; and God loves those who cleanse themselves.

English - Maududi

Never stand therein. Surely a mosque founded from the first day on piety is more worthy that you should stand in it for Prayer. In it are people who love to purify themselves, and Allah loves those that purify themselves.

Never set foot in that place. Only a mosque whose foundations have been laid from the very first on godliness is worthy of your visiting it. There you will find men who wish to be purified; and God loves those who are pure.
