أَسًا, [but in the S, the latter seems to be mentioned as a simple subst.,] He dressed the wound;

(M, K,) and عَلَى مُصِيبَةٍ [for an affliction], and
لِفُلَانٍ [for such a one]. (S.) [This belongs to
the present art. and to art. اسى; but is distinguished in the M and K by being mentioned only
in the latter art.; though the inf. n. is mentioned
in the K in both arts.] Hence the saying, الإِسَآءُ
يَدْفَعُ الأَسَا [Medicine dispels grief, or mourning]

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Then he turned away from them and said, ‘O my people, indeed, I delivered to you the messages of my Lord and gave you sincere counsel. How then should I sorrow for a disbelieving people?’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
پس اس نے ان سے منہ موڑ لیا اور کہا اے میری قوم! یقیناً میں تمہیں اپنے ربّ کے تمام پیغامات اچھی طرح پہنچا چکا ہوں اور تمہیں نصیحت کر چکا ہوں۔ پس میں ایک انکار کرنے والی قوم پر کیسے افسوس کروں۔

Alors il se détourna d’eux et dit : « Ô mon peuple, je vous ai en vérité transmis les Messages de mon Seigneur, et je vous ai donné des conseils sincères. Comment donc m’affligerais-je sur un peuple mécréant ? »

اس پر وہ (شعیب) ان سے پیٹھ پھیر کر چل دئیے اور کہتے گئے اے میری قوم! میں نے اپنے رب کے پیغام تم کو پہنچا دئیے تھے اور تم کو نصیحت کردی تھی۔ پس اب میں منکر قوم پر کس طرح افسوس کروں۔

Commentary:
The words put in the mouth of Shu‘aib in this verse are full of pathos. Shu‘aib, like every true Prophet, feels deep grief and distress for his people, but then he tries to console his distressed heart by saying, How then should I sorrow for a disbelieving people, i.e. "These ungrateful people persistently refused to accept the truth from their Lord. They defied and disobeyed God’s Prophet and rejected His signs and thus drew upon themselves His wrath and brought about their ruin with their own hand. In spite of this my heart sorrows for them. Would that they had believed!"
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
اور شعیبؑ یہ کہہ کر ان کی بستیوں سے نکل گیا کہ "اے برادران قوم، میں نے اپنے رب کے پیغامات تمہیں پہنچا دیے اور تمہاری خیر خواہی کا حق ادا کر دیا اب میں اُس قوم پر کیسے افسوس کروں جو قبول حق سے انکار کرتی ہے"

And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving people?"

(یہ سب کچھ اس لیے ہے) تاکہ جو کچھ بھی نقصان تمہیں ہو اس پر تم دل شکستہ نہ ہو اور جو کچھ اللہ تمہیں عطا فرمائے اس پر پھول نہ جاؤ اللہ ایسے لوگوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا جو اپنے آپ کو بڑی چیز سمجھتے ہیں اور فخر جتاتے ہیں

In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful -

تاکہ جو چیز تمہارے ہاتھ سے جاتی رہے اس پر رنج نہ کرو اور جو تمہیں دے اس پر اتراؤ نہیں اور الله کسی اترانے والے شیخی خورے کو پسند نہیں کرتا
