English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And thou canst not guide the blind out of their error. Thou canst make only those to hear who believe in Our Signs, for they submit.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور یقیناً تو اندھوں کو ان کی گمراہی سے ہدایت کی طرف نہیں لا سکتا۔ تُو تو محض ان کو سنا سکتا ہے جو ہمارے نشانات پر ایمان لاتے ہیں اور وہ فرمانبردار ہیں۔

Et tu ne peux pas guider les aveugles et les tirer de leur erreur. Tu peux faire entendre seulement ceux qui croient à Nos Signes, et alors ils deviennent obéissants.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور تو اندھوں کو بھی ان کی گمراہی سے بچا کر ہدایت نہیں دے سکتا۔ تو تو صرف انہی کو سناتا ہے جو ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان لاتے ہیں اور وہ (عملاً بھی) فرمانبردار [1]ہوتے ہیں۔

یہاں مُسْلِم کا لفظ ہے جس کے معنے ہیں عملاً فرمانبرداری کرنے والا (مفردات راغب)

اور نہ اندھوں کو راستہ بتا کر بھٹکنے سے بچا سکتے ہو تم تو اپنی بات اُنہی لوگوں کو سنا سکتے ہو جو ہماری آیات پر ایمان لاتے ہیں اور پھر فرمان بردار بن جاتے ہیں

English - Sahih

And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [submitting to Allah].

اور نہ تو اندھوں کو ان کی گمراہی دور کر کے ہدایت کر سکتا ہے تو ان ہی کو سنا سکتا ہے جو ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان لائیں سو وہی مان بھی لیتے ہیں

Man himself makes or mars his destiny. No Prophet or Divine revelation can lead him to God unless he has the will to listen to truth. The initiative first must come from man himself, the result then follows from God.

Commentary:

The verse points to another natural law, viz. that it is man himself who makes or mars his destiny. No Prophet or Divine revelation can lead a man to God unless he has the will to listen to truth. He who refuses to listen to truth ends by his heart having been sealed up, but he who is prepared to listen to truth is led up to it. The initiative first must come from man himself, the result then follows from God.

اور نہ تم اندھوں کو ان کی گمراہی سے نکال کر راہِ راست دکھا سکتے ہو تم تو صرف انہی کو سنا سکتے ہو جو ہماری آیات پر ایمان لاتے اور سرِ تسلیم خم کر دیتے ہیں

English - Sahih

And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [in submission to Allah].
