قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَٰدَةً ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ ۖ شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَأُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Say, ‘What thing is most weighty as a witness?’ Say, ‘Allah is a Witness between me and you. And this Qur’an has been revealed to me so that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. What! do you really bear witness that there are other gods beside Allah?’ Say, ‘I bear not witness thereto.’ Say, ‘He is the One God, and certainly I am far removed from that which you associate with Him.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تو پوچھ کہ کونسی بات بطور شہادت سب سے بڑی ہوسکتی ہے۔ کہہ دے کہ اللہ ہی تمہارے اور میرے درمیان گواہ ہے اور میری طرف یہ قرآن وحی کیا گیا ہے تا کہ میں اس کے ذریعہ سے تمہیں ڈراؤں اور ہر اُس شخص کو بھی جس تک یہ پہنچے۔ کیا تم قطعی طور پر گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اللہ کے علاوہ بھی کوئی دوسرے معبود ہیں؟ تُو کہہ دے کہ میں (یہ) گواہی نہیں دیتا۔ کہہ دے کہ یقیناً وہی ایک ہی معبود ہے اور میں یقیناً اُس سے بَری ہوں جو تم شرک کرتے ہو۔

French

Dis : « Qu’y a-t-il de plus valable comme témoignage ? » Dis : « Allāh est Témoin entre moi et vous. Et ce Coran m’a été révélé afin que, par ce moyen, je vous avertisse et tous ceux qu’il atteindra. Comment ! Portez-vous témoignage réellement qu’il existe d’autres dieux à part Allāh ? » Dis : « Je n'y porte pas témoignage ». Dis : « Lui-Seul est une Divinité Unique, et je suis totalement déchargé de ce que vous Lui associez. »

Sprich: "Was ist am gewichtigsten als ein Zeugnis?" Sprich: "Allah ist Zeuge zwischen mir und euch. Che! Veramente testimoniate che vi siano altri dèi oltre ad Allah?» Di': «Io non lo testimonio.» Di': «In verità, Egli è l'Unico Dio, e certamente io sono lontano da quanto associate a Lui.»

Pregúntales: “¿Qué tiene más peso como testimonio?” Diles: “Al-lah es Testigo entre vosotros y yo. Pues este Corán me ha sido revelado para que con él pueda advertiros a vosotros y a quienes alcance. ¡Cómo! ¿Pretendéis testimoniar que hay otros dioses además de Al-lah?”. Di: “No doy testimonio de eso” y añade: “Él es el Dios Único, y me absuelvo totalmente de lo que asociáis a El”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تو کہہ سب سے زیادہ (سچی) گواہی دینے والی کونسی ہستی ہے۔ پھر (خود ہی جواب میں) کہہ دے کہ اللہ۔ وہ تمہارے اور میرے درمیان گواہ ہے۔ اور میری طرف یہ قرآن وحی کیا گیا ہے تا کہ میں تمہیں اس کے ذریعہ سے (آنے والے عذاب سے) ہوشیار کروں اور ان (سب) کو بھی جن تک یہ پہنچے۔ کیا تم یہ گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی اور معبود بھی ہیں (اورپھر اپنی طرف سے) کہدے کہ (تم ایسی جھوٹی گواہیاں دیتے پھرو) میں تو یہ گواہی نہیں دیتا (پھر ان سے) کہدے کہ وہ (خدا) تو اپنی ذات میں صرف اکیلا خدا ہے اور میں تو ان چیزوں سے جن کو تم خدا کا شریک بناتے ہو بیزار ہوں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Say, ‘What thing is the weightiest in testimony.’ Say, [d]‘Allah is a Witness[833] between me and you. And this Qur’an has been revealed to me so that with it I may warn you, as well as whomsoever it reaches, of the impending punishment. What! do you really bear witness that there are other gods beside Allah?’ Say, ‘I bear not witness thereto.’ Say, ‘He is the One God, and certainly I am innocent of that which you associate with Him.’

God bears witness in three different ways,—by the revelation of the Qur’an. This is the first witness. The second and the third witnesses are mentioned in the following verses.

Commentary:

God Himself answers the question which He has put in the beginning of the verse; for the disbelievers did not know how to answer. They could not think that God also could bear witness. The answer has been given by God in order to instruct and teach believers.

Now the question is, how does God bear witness? This verse and the next two mention three ways by which God bears witness to the truth of the Holy Prophet. The first is by means of the Quran. This Quran has been revealed to me, the verse calls upon the Holy Prophet to say, so that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. These words signify that whosoever opposes the Quran and obstructs it will be visited by Divine punishment. This punishment will constitute God’s testimony to the truth of the Holy Prophet. The second and the third ways by which God bears witness are mentioned in the verses that follow.

ان سے پوچھو، کس کی گواہی سب سے بڑھ کر ہے؟کہو، میرے اور تمہارے درمیان اللہ گواہ ہے، اور یہ قرآن میری طرف بذریعہ وحی بھیجا گیا ہے تاکہ تمہیں اور جس جس کو یہ پہنچے، سب کو متنبہ کر دوں کیا واقعی تم لوگ یہ شہادت دے سکتے ہو کہ اللہ کے ساتھ دوسرے خدا بھی ہیں؟ کہو، میں تو اس کی شہادت ہرگز نہیں دے سکتا کہو، خدا تو وہی ایک ہے اور میں اس شرک سے قطعی بیزار ہوں جس میں تم مبتلا ہو

English - Sahih

Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allah is witness between me and you. And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

تو پوچھ سب سے بڑا گواہ کون ہے کہہ دو الله میرے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ ہے اور مجھ پر یہ قرآن اتارا گیا ہے تاکہ تمہیں اس کے ذریعہ سے ڈراؤں اور جس جس کو یہ قرآن پہنچے کیا تم گواہی دیتے ہو کہ الله کے ساتھ اور بھی کوئی معبود ہیں کہہ دو میں تو گواہی نہیں دیتا کہہ دو وہی ایک معبود ہے اور میں تمہارے شرک سے بیزار ہوں

Commentary:

The Arabs were the immediate addressees of the Holy Prophet and among them no Divine Messenger had appeared for a long time. But in His infallible wisdom God selected them for preaching to mankind the last Divine Message. The Quran has incontestibly laid claim to being that Message. The following verses of the Quran speak of its finality and universality: "Say, O mankind, truly I am a Messenger to you all from Allah" (7:159); "And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples" (21:108); "Blessed is He Who has sent down the Discrimin-ation to His servant, that he may be a Warner to all the worlds" (25:2); "And We have not sent thee but as a Bearer of good news and as a Warner to all mankind" (34:29).

تاکہ تم خبردار کرو ایک ایسی قوم کو جس کے باپ دادا خبردار نہ کیے گئے تھے اور اس وجہ سے وہ غفلت میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں
