وَلَوۡ عَلِمَ اللّٰہُ فِیۡہِمۡ خَیۡرًا لَّاَسۡمَعَہُمۡ ۖ وَلَوۡ اَسۡمَعَہُمۡ لَتَوَلَّوۡا وَّہُمۡ مُّعۡرِضُوۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And if Allah had known any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear. And if He now makes them hear, they will turn away, in aversion.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور اگر اللہ ان کے اندر کوئی بھی اچھی بات دیکھتا تو انہیں ضرور سنا دیتا۔ اور اگرانہیں سنا بھی دیتا تو ضرور اِعراض کرتے ہوئے وہ پیٹھ پھیر جاتے۔

French

Et si Allāh avait connu quelque bien en eux, Il les aurait certainement fait entendre. Et si maintenant Il les fait entendre, ils se détourneront avec aversion.

Und hätte Allah etwas Gutes in ihnen gekannt, Er hätte sie gewiss hörend gemacht. Und wenn Er sie hörend macht, so werden sie sich wegwenden in Widerwillen.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور اگر اللہ ان (کفار) میں کوئی بھی خیر دیکھتا تو ان کو (قرآن) سنا دیتا اور اگر ان کو (موجودہ حالت میں قرآن) سنا دیتا تب بھی وہ پیٹھ پھیر دیتے اور (قرآن سے) روگردانی اختیار کرتے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And if Allah had known any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear. And if He now makes[1109] them hear, they will turn away in aversion.

The expression "makes them hear" means that if in their present condition God should force them to accept the truth, they would in their heart of hearts remain unconverted and would never become true Muslims.

English - Five Volume Translation

And if Allah had known any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear. And if He now makes them hear, they will turn away, in aversion.[1112]

Commentary:

The expression اسمعھم (made them hear) in the first place mean that if God had known any good in them, He would have made them hear and accept the truth. The verse thus shows that it is only those whose hearts are wholly corrupt that are caused or allowed to go astray by God. Those in whose hearts there is any good are always led by God to the acceptance of the truth.

The second clause of the verse indicates that while Allah makes good men accept and follow guidance, He never forces anyone to go astray. The expression اسمعھم (made them hear) in the second place, therefore, means that if in their present condition God should force them to accept the truth, the result would be that their hearts would remain unconverted and they would never become true Muslims.

اگر اللہ کو معلوم ہوتا کہ ان میں کچھ بھی بھلائی ہے تو وہ ضرور انہیں سُننے کی توفیق دیتا (لیکن بھلائی کے بغیر) اگر وہ ان کو سُنواتا تو وہ بے رُخی کے ساتھ منہ پھیر جاتے

English - Sahih

Had Allah known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور اگر الله ان میں کچھ بھلائی جانتا تو انہیں سنا دیتا اور اگر انہیں اب سنا دے تو منہ پھیر کر بھاگیں
