وَالسَّمَآءَ بَنَیۡنٰہَا بِاَیۡٮدٍ وَّاِنَّا لَمُوۡسِعُوۡنَ
قرآن کریم میں بِاَیْدٍ کا لفظ ہے یعنی کئی ہاتھوں سے بنایا۔ لیکن یَدٌ جس کی جمع اَیْدٍ ہے اس کے لغت میں طاقت اور قدرت کے معنے لکھے ہیں۔ اور خداتعالیٰ کی قدرت اور طاقت کے لئے مذہبی اصطلاح میں صفت کا لفظ بولا جاتا ہے پس ہم نے ترجمہ یہ کیا ہے کہ ’’آسمان کو ہم نے کئی صفات کے ذریعہ بنایا ہے‘‘ یعنی ان کے بنانے میں قدرت کا ہاتھ بھی تھا اور پاکیزگی اور تقدیس کا ہاتھ بھی۔ پس کئی صفات آسمان سے ظاہر ہوتی ہیں۔
Yad signifies, (1) favour; (2) power; dignity; (3) protection; (4) wealth; (5) arm; etc. (Aqrab). Thus the expression in the text means: 'We have created the heaven with power and might,' or 'We have made the heaven as a manifestation of Our power and might,' i.e. in the creation of the heavens and the earth there is proof of many Divine attributes, the prominent being God’s Glory, Might and Majesty.
Musi‘un also means, 'We go on expanding.'

أید (hands) is plural of ید which has a vast variety of meanings, some of which are: (1) benefit, bounty, favour; (2) power, might, influence; dignity, rank or status; (3) assistance, help, protection; (4) possessions, wealth; (5) host, army; etc. See also 38:46. بین یدیه means, before him, in his presence. مالک علیه ید means, you have no power or influence over him. سقط فی یدہmeans, he was smitten with remorse, he repented. ھذا فی یدی means, it is in my possession. بنیناھا بأید may mean, We have created it with power and might, or We have made the heaven as a manifestation of Our power and might (Lane & Aqrab).
Commentary:
The verse makes pointed reference to God’s marvellous handiwork—the universe, creation of which leads directly to the object of the creation of man, who is the aim and object of its creation and its acme and apex. In the creation of the heavens and the earth there is proof of many Divine attributes, the prominent being His Glory, Might and Majesty.
