Commentary:
This and the preceding verse point to the immutable divine law that nations rise and fall as they conform to, or defy, the will of God, Who is the source of all power and glory. They also refer to the fulfilment of a great prophecy. A nation which had enjoyed temporal and spiritual sovereignty for a long time was going to be abased, because it had persistently violated the divine law and had become spiritually dead; and in place of it another nation, till now very low in the scale of humanity, was going to be raised to the highest pinnacle of temporal and spiritual power. The sovereignty or kingdom mentioned in the preceding verse refers to both the temporal and spiritual kingdom which was promised to the progeny of Abraham and which the Israelites had enjoyed for a long time. That kingdom was now going to be transferred to the House of Ishmael to find its completest manifestation in Islam. A living nation had suffered death and another, as good as dead, had arisen into life.
The word النھار (day) represents prosperity and power, and اللیل (night) signifies the loss of power combined with decline and decadence. By using this simile, the Quran draws attention to the fact that a people who wish that the night of woes and miseries should never overtake them and that they should ever continue to enjoy the day of prosperity and glory, should so place themselves in front of the Divine Sun as to continue to be illuminated by its ever-effulgent light. In this connection it may also be noted that the Quranic expression, Thou makest the night pass into the day and makest the day pass into the night, does not merely signify "the" alternate ending and beginning of day and: night, but also the conversion of part of the day into night and vice versa, thus hinting at the lengthening of the one at the cost of the other.
The clause, And Thou givest to whomsoever thou pleasest without measure, holds out a promise to Muslims that the glory of Islam will be unparalleled and will last forever. Islam will never be displaced as a religion and Muslims will always continue to be one of the most exalted peoples of the earth till the end of time. The appearance of Ahmad, the Promised Messiah, at a time when the temporal power of Islam was at its lowest ebb and Muslims had also become morally and spiritually degenerate, was in fulfilment of this very promise. Through him Islam has found a new life. It will now bloom and blossom till whole nations shall come under its spiritual sway, and Muslims shall regain their pristine glory and shall become the most dominant people on the face of the earth.

زلزلہ تو طبعی طور پر آیا تھا‘ مگر قوم کے شرک کی وجہ سے حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو خیال ہوا کہ شاید ہمیں سزا دینے کے لئے آیا ہے۔

The earthquake was a natural phenomenon. Moses feared that it was a Divine punishment for the sins of his people.

Commentary:
This verse shows that the tablets were not broken as alleged by the Bible; for if they were broken, how could the very tablets have been taken up again. The word نسخة (writing) explained above also hints that Moses did not receive any written tablets from God but that he himself wrote them under divine inspiration.
The word سفھاء (the foolish) is used here not in the general sense but in the specific sense of the foolish in the ways of God, i.e. "ignorant", for every act of disobedience is born of ignorance, even if it is committed intentionally. Those, who were clever enough to render Aaron helpless, could not be called fools in the ordinary sense of the word. They are called سفھاء (fools) because they did not possess the sense and intelligence to understand the Word of God.
The incident of the calf proved to be the first occasion when the transgressors among the Israelites became distinguished from true believers, and the prophecy, Soon shall I show you the abode of the transgressors (7:146), was fulfilled.

Commentary:
This verse shows that the tablets were not broken as alleged by the Bible; for if they were broken, how could the very tablets have been taken up again. The word نسخة (writing) explained above also hints that Moses did not receive any written tablets from God but that he himself wrote them under divine inspiration.
The word سفھاء (the foolish) is used here not in the general sense but in the specific sense of the foolish in the ways of God, i.e. "ignorant", for every act of disobedience is born of ignorance, even if it is committed intentionally. ۞ تُرْجِى مَن تَشَآءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُـْٔوِىٓ إِلَيْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ ۖ وَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن تَقَرَّ أَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلَا يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَلِيمًا
一方面, 穆圣的妻子们可以在他的伴侣与生活及财产上的物质享受之间进行随意选择 (33:29-30), 而另一方面, 穆圣也可以留住或离开他的任何一个妻子。他的所有妻子们马上表明了她们的选择。她们决定与他共命运。而就穆圣方面, 则同样地显得十分体贴。他表示了把她们全都留住的打算。穆圣的这一决定使得她们非常高兴。这就是: “都满意于你所给予她们的” 这句话的含意。
اس آیت اور پہلی آیت میں یہ فرق ہے کہ سورہ ٔاحزاب کی آیت۲۹ میں تو یہ کہا گیا تھا کہ اے بیویو! اگر تمہارے دل میں دنیا کی فراخی دین کی فراخی پر مقدم ہو تو تم کہہ دو۔ میں تم کو دنیا کی فراخی دے کر رخصت کر دوں گا۔ مگر اس آیت میں یہ کہا گیا ہے کہ عورتوں نے تو فیصلہ دے دیا کہ وہ چپ رہیں اور اس طرح انہوں نے عملًا کہہ دیا کہ ہم دین پر راضی ہیں دنیا پر نہیں۔ لیکن میاں بیوی کے تعلقات کا ایک پہلو اور بھی ہوتا ہے یعنی عورت خواہ سمجھتی ہو کہ میں دین دار ہوں مگر مرد بعض باتیں اس میں ایسی دیکھتا ہے جن سے وہ اسے دنیا دار سمجھتا ہے۔ پس اس کو بھی حق ہونا چاہیے کہ اگر وہ سمجھے کہ اصل میں وہ دنی
یعنی بیویاں رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حسن اخلاق سے واقف تھیں جب معاملہ خداتعالیٰ نے آپ پر چھوڑا تو وہ خوش ہو گئیں کہ اب جو کچھ ہوگا ٹھیک ہوگا
قرآن کریم میں بہت جگہ ’’دیا ہے‘‘ ’’دے گا‘‘ کے معنوں میں استعمال ہوا ہے اور مطلب یہ ہے کہ آئندہ جو سلوک بھی تو اُن سے کرے گا اس حکم کے ماتحت وہ اس پر خوش ہو جائیں گی اور سمجھ لیں گی کہ تو محبت اور انصاف کا سلوک کر رہا ہے۔

اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں کہ خداتعالیٰ نے کوئی تقدیر مقرر کر دی ہے کہ فلاں شخص نیک ہو اور فلاں بد۔ قرآن مجید اس عقیدہ کو غلط قرار دیتا ہے۔ اس آیت میں قرآن مجید کی ایک دوسری آیت کی طرف اشارہ ہے جو یہ ہے کہ مَاخَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْاِنْسَ اِلَّا لِیَعْبُدُوْنِ (ذاریات: ۵۷) یعنی میں نے جِنّ و انس کو صرف اس لئے پیدا کیا ہے کہ وہ میری عبادت کریں۔ اسی طرح اس آیت کی طرف اشارہ ہے کہ وَنَفْسٍ وَّ مَا سَوّٰھَا (سورۃ شمس) یعنی ہر انسانی جان کو ہم نے اعلیٰ درجہ کی طاقتوں کے ساتھ بھیجا ہے۔ پس سورۃ تکویر کی اس آیت میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ چونکہ خداتعالیٰ کی یہ مشیئت نازل ہو چکی ہے کہ ت
