ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُوا۟ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
That was because their Messengers came to them with manifest Signs, but they disbelieved; so Allah seized them. Surely He is Powerful, Severe in punishment.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
یہ اس لئے ہوا کہ ان کے پاس ان کے رسول کھلے کھلے نشانات لے کر آتے رہے پھر بھی انہوں نے انکار کردیا۔ پس اللہ نے ان کو پکڑ لیا۔ یقیناً وہ بہت طاقتور (اور) سزا دینے میں سخت ہے۔
French
C’est parce que leurs Messagers étaient venus à eux avec des Signes manifestes, mais qu’ils avaient refusé de croire ; alors Allāh les a saisis. Assurément, Il est Fort, Sévère dans Son châtiment.

Das war, weil ihre Gesandten zu ihnen kamen mit offenbaren Zeichen, sie aber glaubten nicht; drum erfasste sie Allah. Fürwahr, Er ist stark, streng im Strafen.

Esto fue porque Sus Mensajeros llegaron a ellos con Signos manifiestos, pero no creyeron; Al-lah pues, cayó sobre ellos. En verdad Él es Poderoso, Severo en el castigo.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
یہ (بے کسی) اس وجہ سے تھی کہ ان کے پاس ان کے رسول نشانات لے کر آتے رہے اور انہوں نے (ہمیشہ) انکار سے کام لیا پس اللہ نے بھی ان کو ہلاک کردیا وہ بڑا قوی ہے (اور) اس کا عذاب سخت ہے۔

یہ ان کا انجام اس لیے ہوا کہ ان کے پاس اُن کے رسول بینات لے کر آئے اور انہوں نے ماننے سے انکار کر دیا آخر کار اللہ نے ان کو پکڑ لیا، یقیناً وہ بڑی قوت والا اور سزا دینے میں بہت سخت ہے

That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment.

English - Arberry
That was because their Messengers came to them with the clear signs; but they disbelieved, so God seized them. Surely He is All-strong, terrible in retribution.

They came to this end because their Messengers would come to them with Clear Signs and yet they would refuse to believe. So Allah seized them. He is indeed Strong, Terrible in Retribution.

یہ اس لئے ہے کہ ان کے پاس ان کے رسول کھلے کھلے نشانوں کے ساتھ آیا کرتے تھے تو وہ کہتے تھے کہ کیا ہمیں بشر ہدایت دیں گے؟ پس انہوں نے انکار کیا اور منہ پھیر لیا اور اللہ بھی بے نیاز ہوگیا اور اللہ غنی (اور) صاحبِ حمد ہے۔

Eso fue porque sus Mensajeros les llegaron con Signos manifiestos, pero dijeron: “¿Acaso ha de guiarnos los humanos?”. No creyeron, pues, y se apartaron, pero Al-lah nunca tuvo necesidad de ellos; pues Al-lah es Autosuficiente, Merecedor de toda alabanza.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
یہ اس لئے ہوا کہ ان کے پاس ان کے رسول دلائل لیکر آتے رہے مگر وہ یہی جواب دیتے رہے کہ کیا انسانی شکل میں آنے والے لوگ ہی ہم کو ہدایت دیں گے (اگر ہدایت دینی ہوتی تو فرشتے آسمان سے اترتے) سو انہوں نے کفر کیا اور پیٹھ پھیر لی۔ اور اللہ نے بھی ان کے ایمان سے بے نیازی ظاہر کی اور اللہ ہر ایک سے بے احتیاج (اور) بڑی تعریفوں کا مستحق ہے۔

That was because their Messengers came to them with manifest Signs, but they said, ‘Shall mere mortals guide us?’ So they disbelieved and turned away, but Allah had no need of them; and Allah is Self-Sufficient. Worthy of all praise.

Commentary:
As man has been endowed with great faculties of head and heart and as he has to render an account of his deeds in the life hereafter, God sent His Messengers to guide him to the goal of his life. But man, in his ingratitude and conceit, defies and opposes Divine Messengers, thereby incurring Divine punishment.

اِس انجام کے مستحق وہ اس لیے ہوئے کہ اُن کے پاس اُن کے رسول کھلی کھلی دلیلیں اور نشانیاں لے کر آتے رہے، مگر اُنہوں نے کہا "کیا انسان ہمیں ہدایت دیں گے؟" اس طرح انہوں نے ماننے سے انکار کر دیا اور منہ پھیر لیا، تب اللہ بھی ان سے بے پروا ہو گیا اور اللہ تو ہے ہی بے نیاز اور اپنی ذات میں آپ محمود
English - Sahih
That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear evidences, but they said, "Shall human beings guide us?" and disbelieved and turned away. And Allah dispensed [with them]; and Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy.

یہ اس لیے کہ ان کے پاس ان کے رسول واضح دلیلیں لے کر آتے تھے تووہ کہا کرتے تھے کہ کیا آدمی ہم کو راہ دکھائیں گے پس انہوں نے انکار کیا اورمنہ موڑ لیا اور الله نے پروا نہ کی اور الله بے نیاز تعریف کیا ہوا ہے

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس *

That is because their Messengers came to them with the clear signs, and then they said, 'What, shall mortals be our guides?' Therefore they disbelieved, and turned away; and God was in no need of them. And God is All-sufficient, All-laudable.

This was because their Messengers would come to them with Clear Signs, but they would say: “Shall mortals (like ourselves) guide us to the Right Way?” They rejected the Truth and turned away. Thereupon Allah became unconcerned with them, for Allah is Self-Sufficient, Innately Praiseworthy.

Commentary:
