اور وہ لوگ جو آگ میں ہوں گے جہنّم کے داروغوں سے کہیں گے کہ اپنے ربّ سے دعا کرو کہ ہم سے کسی دن تو کچھ عذاب ہلکا کردے۔

اور دوزخی لوگ دوزخ کے داروغوں سے کہیں گے‘ تم اپنے رب کو پکارو کہ عذاب کا کچھ وقت تو ہم سے کم کرے۔

And those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of Hell, ‘Pray to your Lord that He may lighten for us the punishment for a day.’

Commentary:

The word یوم meaning time absolutely; a day or part of a day (Lane), the verse purports to say that disbelievers will implore the keepers of Hell to intercede with God on their behalf that He may lighten their punishment—it may be, for a little while.
