وَالَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَاتَّبَعَتۡہُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُہُمۡ بِاِیۡمٰنٍ اَلۡحَقۡنَا بِہِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَہُمۡ وَمَاۤ اَلَتۡنٰہُمۡ مِّنۡ عَمَلِہِمۡ مِّنۡ شَیۡءٍ ۚ کُلُّ امۡرِئٍۭ بِمَا کَسَبَ رَہِیۡنٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And those who believe and whose children follow them in faith — with them shall We join their children. And We will not diminish anything from the reward of their works. Every man stands pledged for what he has earned.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور وہ لوگ جو ایمان لائے اور ان کی اولاد نے بھی ایمان کی بدولت اُن کی پیروی کی ان کے ساتھ ہم ان کی اولاد کو بھی ملا دیں گے جبکہ ان کے عمل میں سے انہیں کچھ بھی کم نہ دیں گے ۔ ہر شخص اپنے کمائے ہوئے کا رہین ہے۔

French

Et ceux qui croient, et dont les enfants les suivent dans la foi, Nous unirons avec eux leurs enfants. Et Nous ne diminuerons en rien la récompense de leurs œuvres. Chaque homme est responsable de ce qu’il a acquis.

German

Und diejenigen, die glauben und deren Nachkommen ihnen im Glauben folgen, mit denen wollen Wir ihre Nachkommen vereinen. Und Wir werden ihnen ihre Werke nicht im geringsten schmälern. Jedermann ist ein Pfand für das, was er gewirkt hat.

那些自己信仰而其子孙也随着信仰的人, 我 [a]将集合他们的子孙[1321]与他们在一起, 我将丝毫不减少他们行为的 (报酬)。每一个人都得对他自己的行为负责。[1322]

40:9.

因为上一节经文中讲到要使敬畏的人和他们纯洁而美丽的妻子一起生活, 这里是解说还要使他们的儿女和他们团聚一堂, 由此使他们的欢乐更完善。

仅仅和敬畏的人有亲戚关系, 不会对信者有好处。使他在天园中赢得一个安身之处, 要看他自己的善行。

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جو لوگ ایمان لے آئے ہیں اور ان کی اولاد بھی ایمان کے معاملہ میں ان کے پیچھے چلی ہے ہم ان کے ساتھ اعلیٰ جنتوں میں ان کی اولاد کو بھی جمع کر دیں گے اور ان (باپ دادوں) کے عملوں میں بھی کوئی کمی نہیں کریں گے۔ ہر ایک شخص اپنے اعمال کے بدلہ میں گِرَوْ[1] ہے۔

یعنی اپنے اعمال کی جزا سزا سے اِدھر اُدھر نہیں ہو سکتا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And those, who believe and whose children follow them in faith—with them will We [a]join their children.[2852] And We will not diminish anything from the reward of their works. Every man stands pledged[2853] for what he has earned.

40:9.

Whereas in the former verse it was stated that the righteous will be made to live with their pure, beautiful wives, this verse explains that their children will also be united with them, thus making their joy complete.

The mere fact of being related to a righteous man would do the believer no good. It is his own good works that will earn him his place in Paradise.

English - Five Volume Translation

And those who believe and whose children follow them in faith—with them shall We join their children.[a] And We will not diminish anything from the reward of their works. Every man stands pledged for what he has earned.[3944]

40:9.

Important Words:

ذریة (children) is derived from ذر. They say ذر اللّٰه عبادہ فی الارض i.e. God spread His servants upon the earth. ذریة used as both singular and plural (ذریات—plural) means, children or offspring of a man, male or female; little ones or young ones; descendants; progenitors or ancestors, women (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

This verse further explains its predecessor. Whereas in the former verse it was stated that the righteous will be made to live with their pure, beautiful wives, this verse explains that their offspring will also be united with them, thus making their joy complete.

The words "Every man stands pledged for what he has earned," remove one possible misunderstanding, viz. that the mere fact of being related to a righteous man would do the believer no good. It is his own good works that will earn him his place in Paradise. The verse clearly speaks of man’s responsibility for his actions.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جو لوگ ایمان لائے ہیں اور اُن کی اولاد بھی کسی درجہ ایمان میں ان کے نقش قدم پر چلی ہے ان کی اُس اولاد کو بھی ہم (جنت میں) اُن کے ساتھ ملا دیں گے اور اُن کے عمل میں کوئی گھاٹا ان کو نہ دیں گے ہر شخص اپنے کسب کے عوض رہن ہے

English - Sahih

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور ان کی اولاد نے ایمان میں ان کی پیروی کی ہم ان کے ساتھ ان کی اولاد کو بھی (جنت) میں ملا دیں گے اور ان کے عمل میں سے کچھ بھی کم نہ کریں گے ہر شخص اپنے عمل کے ساتھ وابستہ ہے

English - Talal Itani

And those who believed and followed them their offspring in faith, We will join with them their offspring and not We will deprive them of their deeds (in) any thing. Every person for what he earned (is) pledged.
