English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

It is these who said of their brethren, while they themselves remained behind, ‘If they had obeyed us, they would not have been slain.’ Say, ‘Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

وہ لوگ جنہوں نے اپنے بھائیوں سے متعلق کہا اور خود بیٹھے رہے کہ اگر یہ ہماری بات مانتے تو قتل نہ کئے جاتے۔ تُو کہہ اگر تم سچے ہو تو خود اپنے اوپر سے تو موت ٹال کر دکھاؤ۔

French

Ce sont eux qui dirent de leurs frères, alors qu’ eux-mêmes ils restaient en arrière, « S’ils nous avaient obéi, ils n’auraient pas été tués. » Dis : « Alors, éloignez la mort de vous-mêmes, si vous êtes véridiques. »

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(یہ وہ لوگ ہیں) جنہوں نے اپنے بھائیوں کے متعلق ایسی حالت میں کہ وہ خود (پیچھے) بیٹھ رہے تھے کہا تھا کہ اگر وہ ہماری بات مانتے تو مارے نہ جاتے تو (ان سے) کہہ دے کہ اگر تم سچے ہو تو (اب) اپنے آپ سے (ہی) موت کو ہٹا (کر دکھا) دو۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

It is these who said of their brethren,[526] while they themselves remained behind, ‘If they had obeyed us, [a]they would not have been slain.’ Say, [b]‘Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful.’

The words "said of their brethren" may mean "said concerning their brethren," i.e. Muslims; or "talked among themselves about the Muslims."

Commentary:

The word اخوان (brethren) may refer to both the Muslims and the hypocrites. If taken to refer to the Muslims, the expression قالوا لاخوانھم (said of their brethren) would either mean, "said concerning their brethren, the Muslims", or it would mean, "said to their brethren, the Muslims." If, however, it is taken to refer to the hypocrites, the expression would mean, "said to their own brethren", i.e. talked among themselves.

The expression, Then avert death from yourselves, embodies a prophecy about the destruction of the hypocrites. The clause would thus signify, "You stayed in your homes in order to save yourselves. Now, the time of your destruction has arrived. So protect yourselves if you can."

یہ وہی لوگ ہیں جو خود تو بیٹھے رہے او ران کے جو بھائی بند لڑنے گئے اور مارے گئے ان کے متعلق انہوں نے کہہ دیا کہ ا گروہ ہماری بات مان لیتے تو نہ مارے جاتے ان سے کہو اگر تم اپنے قول میں سچے ہو تو خود تمہاری موت جب آئے اُسے ٹال کر دکھا دینا

English - Sahih

Those who said about their brothers while sitting [at home], "If they had obeyed us, they would not have been killed." Say, "Then prevent death from yourselves, if you should be truthful."

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو اپنے بھائیوں سے کہتے ہیں حالانکہ خود بیٹھ رہے تھے اگر وہ ہماری بات مانتے تو قتل نہ کیے جاتے کہہ دو اگر تم سچے ہو تو اپنی جانوں سے موت کو ہٹا دو
