English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra

جس نے کفر کیا اس پر اس کے کفر کا وبال پڑے گا۔ اور جس نے اپنے ایمان کے مطابق عمل کیا وہ اپنے ہی نفس کے فائدہ کے لئے تیاری کر رہا ہے۔

Those who disbelieve will bear the consequences of their disbelief; and those who do righteous deeds prepare good for their own souls,

Important Words:
یمھدون (will earn good) is derived from مھد which means, he spread out; he attended to a business and drew profit from it. مھد الامر means, he reformed the affair and made it easy and put it in proper order. مھد لفلان عذرہ means, he accepted the excuse of such a one. مھد لنفسه خیرا means, he provided good for himself and sent it ahead (Aqrab). See also 3:47.

جس نے کفر کیا ہے اس کے کفر کا وبال اسی پر ہے اور جن لوگوں نے نیک عمل کیا ہے وہ اپنے ہی لیے فلاح کا راستہ صاف کر رہے ہیں

Et quant à celui qui ne croit pas, que sa mécréance ne t’afflige pas. C’est à Nous qu’ils retourneront, et Nous leur informerons de ce qu’ils ont fait ; assurément Allāh sait très bien ce qui est dans les poitrines.

E quanto a colui che non crede, non affliggerti per la sua miscredenza. A Noi dovranno tornare, e Noi informeremo loro quello che hanno fatto. Per certo, Allah conosce appieno ciò che si nasconde nei petti.
Spanish
En cuanto a quien no cree, no dejes que su incredulidad te angustie. A Nosotros será su retorno y les diremos lo que hicieron; en verdad, Al‑lah conoce perfectamente lo que hay en los corazones.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور جو لوگ کفر کریں ان کا کفر تجھے غمگین نہ کرے۔ ان کو آخر ہماری[3] طرف ہی لوٹنا پڑے گا۔ پھر ہم ان کو ان کے اعمال کی حقیقت سے خبردار کریں گے۔ اللہ یقیناً سینہ کے اندر [4]کی سب باتوں کو جانتا ہے۔
پہلے مَنْ آیا ہے اور واحد کے صیغے آئے ہیں۔ پھر جمع کا صیغہ ہے۔ اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ مَنْ کی طرف معنوں کے لحاظ سے جمع کی ضمیر پھیرنی جائز ہے اور لفظ کے لحاظ سے واحد کی ضمیر پھیرنی جائز ہے۔

And whoever has disbelieved - let not his disbelief grieve you. To Us is their return, and We will inform them of what they did. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.

C’est Lui Qui a fait de vous des successeurs sur la terre. Aussi celui qui refuse de croire, le méfait de sa mécréance retombera sur lui. Et pour les mécréants, leur mécréance ne fera qu’accroître le dégoût d’Allāh à leur égard et leur mécréance ne fera qu’accroître les mécréants en perte.

Er ist es, Der euch zu Statthaltern auf Erden gemacht hat. Wer aber ungläubig ist: auf ihn sein Unglaube! Und den Ungläubigen kann ihr Unglaube nichts als Widerwillen mehren vor ihrem Herrn, und ihr Unglaube kann den Ungläubigen nur den Verlust mehren.

English - Short Commentary Translation
He it is Who made you successors in the earth of those who have passed away. So he, who disbelieves, will himself suffer the consequences of his disbelief. Their disbelief will bring the disbelievers no increase in the sight of their Lord except His displeasure, and their disbelief will increase for the disbelievers nothing but loss.

He it is Who made you vicegerents in the earth. So he who disbelieves, will himself suffer the consequences of his disbelief. And for the disbelievers their disbelief will only increase odium in the sight of their Lord, and their disbelief will increase for the disbelievers nothing but loss.[3206]
Commentary:
After the advent of the Holy Prophet has been mentioned in v. 38 above, in the present verse the people to whom he preached his Message are warned that God has selected them to be the recipients and bearers of His revelation. He has been very gracious and kind to them for having selected them for the bestowal of His grace, but if they refused to accept His Messenger, great indeed will also be their punishment.

وہی تو ہے جس نے تم کو زمین میں خلیفہ بنایا ہے اب جو کوئی کفر کرتا ہے اس کے کفر کا وبال اُسی پر ہے، اور کافروں کو اُن کا کفر اِس کے سوا کوئی ترقی نہیں دیتا کہ ان کے رب کا غضب اُن پر زیادہ سے زیادہ بھڑکتا چلا جاتا ہے کافروں کے لیے خسارے میں اضافے کے سوا کوئی ترقی نہیں

Commentary:
