قَالُوا ادۡعُ لَنَا رَبَّکَ یُبَیِّنۡ لَّنَا مَا ہِیَ اِنَّ الۡبَقَرَ تَشٰبَہَ عَلَیۡنَا وَاِنَّاۤ اِنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ لَمُہۡتَدُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They said: ‘Pray for us to thy Lord that He make plain to us what she is, for all such cows appear to us alike; and if Allah please, we shall indeed be guided.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
انہوں نے کہا اپنے ربّ سے ہماری خاطر دعا کر کہ وہ ہم پر (مزید) واضح کرے کہ وہ کیا ہے؟ یقیناً سب گائیاں ہم پر مشتبہ ہوگئی ہیں ۔ اور ہم یقیناً اِن شَاءاللّٰہ ضرور ہدایت پانے والے ہیں۔
French
Ils dirent : « Prie ton Seigneur pour nous pour qu’Il dise précisément ce qu’elle est, car pour nous, toutes les vaches sont pareilles ; et, s’il plaît à Allāh, nous serons certainement guidés. »

Sie sprachen: "Bitte deinen Herrn für uns, dass Er uns deutlich mache, welche es ist; denn (alle solchen) Kühe scheinen uns gleich; und wenn es Allah gefällt, werden wir rechtgeleitet sein."

他们说: “你为我们 (再) 求你的养主, 向我们说明它究竞是什么样的牛。因为 (这一类的) 牛,在我们看来, 都是相似的。(请相信,) 如果安拉愿意, 我们必定获得指导。”

Essi dissero: «Prega per noi il tuo Signore che Egli ci spieghi più precisamente di che razza, perché per noi sono tutte uguali; e se così piace ad Allah, saremo davvero ben guidati.»

Dijeron: “Ruega por nosotros a tu Señor para que nos indique cómo es, ya que para nosotros todas esas vacas se asemejan.” Y si Al-lah quiere, ciertamente, seremos guiados.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
انہوں نے کہا‘ ہماری خاطر اپنے رب سے (پھر) دعا کیجیے ٔ کہ وہ ہمیں کھول کر بتائے کہ وہ (گائے) کیسی ہے؟ ہمیں تو اس قسم کی (سب) گائیں ایک ہی جیسی نظر آتی ہیں اور (یقین رکھیے کہ) اگر اللہ نے چاہا تو ہم ضرور ہدایت کو قبول کر لیں گے۔

پھر بولے اپنے رب سے صاف صاف پوچھ کر بتاؤ کیسی گائے مطلوب ہے، ہمیں اس کی تعین میں اشتباہ ہو گیا ہے اللہ نے چاہا، تو ہم اس کا پتہ پالیں گے

They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is. Indeed, [all] cows look alike to us. And indeed we, if Allah wills, will be guided."

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر ان کے رب کی طرف سے برکتیں (نازل ہوتی) ہیں اور رحمت (بھی) اور یہی لوگ ہدایت یافتہ ہیں۔

It is these on whom descend blessings from their Lord and also mercy, and it is these who are rightly guided.

It is these on whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and it is these who are rightly guided.[164]
Commentary:
This verse speaks of the great reward of those who prove themselves to be truly صابر or patient. It is, in fact, an explanation of the word, glad tidings, occurring in 2:156. Truly patient people who are steadfast in their connection with God and whom each and every affliction finds spiritually rising higher and higher will inherit three things: (1) blessings from their Lord; (2) His mercy; and (3) His guidance. God will bless them in every way, will cover them with His mercy and forgiveness and will look after them, providing guidance for them whenever they may need it. He will, as it were, become their friend and guardian, eager to come to their help on all occasions.

انہیں خوش خبری دے دو ان پر ان کے رب کی طرف سے بڑی عنایات ہوں گی، اُس کی رحمت اُن پر سایہ کرے گی اور ایسے ہی لوگ راست رَو ہیں

Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.

Commentary:

باوجود اس کے وہ یہی کہتے جاتے تھے کہ اے جادوگر! اپنے رب کے سامنے ہمارے حق میں ان تمام وعدوں کا واسطہ دے کر دعا کر جو (وعدے) اس نے تجھ سے کیے ہیں (اگر عذاب ٹل گیا) تو ہم ضرور ہدایت پا جائیں گے۔
