قَالَ الۡمَلَاُ الَّذِیۡنَ اسۡتَکۡبَرُوۡا مِنۡ قَوۡمِہٖ لِلَّذِیۡنَ اسۡتُضۡعِفُوۡا لِمَنۡ اٰمَنَ مِنۡہُمۡ اَتَعۡلَمُوۡنَ اَنَّ صٰلِحًا مُّرۡسَلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّہٖ ۚ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّا بِمَاۤ اُرۡسِلَ بِہٖ مُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
The chief men of his people who were arrogant said to those who were reckoned weak — those among them who believed — ‘Do you know for certain that Salih is one sent by his Lord?’ They answered, ‘Surely, we believe in that with which he has been sent.’

اس کی قوم میں سے ان سرداروں نے جنہوں نے استکبار کیا تھا ان لوگوں کو جو کمزور سمجھے جاتے تھے یعنی اُن کو جو اُن میں سے ایمان لائے تھے کہا: کیا تم علم رکھتے ہو کہ صالح اپنے ربّ کی طرف سے پیغمبر بنایا گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ وہ جس (پیغام) کے ساتھ بھیجا گیا ہے ہم اس پر یقیناً ایمان لاتے ہیں۔
French
Les chefs de son peuple, qui étaient arrogants, dirent à ceux qui étaient considérés comme faibles – à ceux d’entre eux qui étaient croyants – : « Savez-vous pour certain que Ṣāliḥ a été envoyé par son Seigneur ? » Ils répondirent : « Nous croyons assurément en ce avec quoi il a été envoyé. »

Los jefes de su pueblo, que eran arrogantes, dijeron a los onsiderados débiles – a quienes creían de entre ellos -: “¿Sabéis con certeza que Salih es un enviado de su Señor?”. Respondieron: “ciertamente, creemos en aquello con lo que ha sido enviado”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
(اس پر) اس (یعنی صالح) کی قوم میں سے جن بڑوں نے تکبر کیا تھا ان لوگوں سے جو صالح کی قوم میں سے ایمان لائے تھے مگر ضعیف تھے کہا کہ کیا تم (واقعہ میں) سمجھتے ہو کہ صالح اپنے رب کی طرف سے رسول ہے۔ ان مومنوں نے کہا ہم تو اس تعلیم پر جس کے ساتھ وہ بھیجا گیا ہے ایمان لاتے ہیں۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
The chief[1003] men of his people who were arrogant said to those who were considered weak—those among them who believed— ‘Do you know for certain that Salih is one sent by his Lord?’ They answered, ‘Surely, we believe in that with which he has been sent.’
Mala’a-hu means, he filled it. Mala’ul-Qaum means, the leaders of the people; its wealthy members (Aqrab). They are so called because with their presence in an assembly it seems to be full.

The chief men of his people who were arrogant said to those who were reckoned weak—those among them who believed—‘Do you know for certain that Salih is one sent by his Lord?’ They answered, ‘Surely, we believe in that with which he has been sent.’[974]

Commentary:
When the so-called leaders of his tribe found, to their mortification, that Salih stood firm as a rock in his convictions and no amount of persuasion could make him swerve from his purpose, they began to harass his followers, but these too they found bold and firm.

اُس کی قوم کے سرداروں نے جو بڑے بنے ہوئے تھے، کمزور طبقہ کے اُن لوگوں سے جو ایمان لے آئے تھے کہا "کیا تم واقعی یہ جانتے ہو کہ صالحؑ اپنے رب کا پیغمبر ہے؟" انہوں نے جواب دیا "بے شک جس پیغام کے ساتھ وہ بھیجا گیا ہے اُسے ہم مانتے ہیں"

Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people to those who were oppressed - to those who believed among them, "Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers."

اس قوم کے متکبر سرداروں نے غریبوں سے کہا جو ایمان لاچکے تھے کیا تمہیں یقن ہے کہ صالح کو اس کے رب نے بھیجا ہے انہوں نے کہا جو وہ لے کر آیا ہے ہم اس پرایمان لانے والے ہیں
