قُلۡ اِنۡ کَانَ اٰبَآؤُکُمۡ وَاَبۡنَآؤُکُمۡ وَاِخۡوٰنُکُمۡ وَاَزۡوٰجُکُمۡ وَعَشِیۡرَتُکُمۡ وَاَمۡوٰلُۨ اقۡتَرَفۡتُمُوۡہَا وَتِجٰرَۃٌ تَخۡشَوۡنَ کَسَادَہَا وَمَسٰکِنُ تَرۡضَوۡنَہَاۤ اَحَبَّ اِلَیۡکُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰہِ وَرَسُوۡلِہٖ وَجِہَادٍ فِیۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ فَتَرَبَّصُوۡا حَتّٰی یَاۡتِیَ اللّٰہُ بِاَمۡرِہٖ ۗ وَاللّٰہُ لَا یَہۡدِی الۡقَوۡمَ الۡفٰسِقِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Say, if your fathers, and your sons, and your brethren, and your wives, and your kinsfolk, and the wealth you have acquired, and the trade whose dullness you fear, and the dwellings which you love are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah comes with His judgment; and Allah guides not the disobedient people.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تو کہہ دے کہ اگر تمہارے باپ دادا اور تمہارے بیٹے اور تمہارے بھائی اور تمہارے اَزواج اور تمہارے قبیلے اور وہ اموال جو تم کماتے ہو اور وہ تجارت جس میں گھاٹے کا خوف رکھتے ہو اور وہ گھر جو تمہیں پسند ہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے اور اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرنے سے تمہیں زیادہ پیارے ہیں تو پھر انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنا فیصلہ لے آئے۔ اور اللہ بدکردار لوگوں کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا۔

French

Dis : « Si vos pères et vos fils et vos frères et vos femmes et vos clans et la richesse que vous avez acquise et le commerce dont vous craignez le marasme et les maisons que vous aimez, vous sont plus chers qu’Allāh et Son Messager et la lutte pour Sa cause, alors attendez qu’Allāh fasse venir Son jugement ; et Allāh ne guide pas le peuple désobéissant. »

German

Sprich: "Wenn eure Väter und eure Söhne und eure Brüder und eure Frauen und eure Verwandten und das Vermögen, das ihr euch erworben, und der Handel dessen Niedergang ihr fürchtet, und die Wohnstätten, die ihr liebt, euch teurer sind als Allah und Sein Gesandter und das Streiten für Seine Sache, dann wartet, bis Allah mit Seinem Urteil kommt; und Allah weist dem ungehorsamen Volk nicht den Weg."

Chinese

你 (对信仰的人) 说: “如果你们的父亲、儿子、兄弟、妻子、(其它的) 亲属、你们赚来的财产、你们生怕萧条的生意和心爱的住宅比安拉、他的使者和在他的道上奋斗对你们更为可爱, 那么, 你们就等候安拉带来他的判决; 安拉不领导不服从者成功之路。

Italian

Di': «Se i vostri padri, e i vostri figli, e i vostri fratelli, e le vostre mogli, e i vostri parenti, e il patrimonio da voi accumulato, e gli affari di cui temete il fallimento, e le case che voi amate, vi sono più cari di Allah e del Suo messaggero, e del lottare per la Sua causa, allora aspettate che Allah venga a giudicarvi; ma Allah non guida la gente disobbediente.»

Spanish

Diles: “Si vuestros padres, vuestros hijos y vuestros hermanos, vuestras mujeres y vuestras gentes, y la riqueza que habéis adquirido, y el negocio cuya ruina teméis y las viviendas que amáis os son más queridos que Al-lah y Su Mensajero y que los esfuerzos por Su causa, entonces esperad que Al-lah venga con Su juicio; pues Al-lah no guía a las gentes desobedientes.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تو (مومنوں سے) کہہ دے کہ اگر تمہارے باپ دادے اور تمہارے بیٹے اور تمہارے بھائی اور تمہاری بیویاں اور تمہارے (دوسرے) رشتہ دار اور وہ مال جو تم نے کمائے ہیں اور وہ تجارتیں جن کے نقصان سے تم ڈرتے ہو اور وہ مکان جن کو تم پسند کرتے ہو‘ تم کو اللہ اور اس کے رسول اور اس کے راستہ میں جہاد کرنے کی نسبت زیادہ پیارے ہیں تو تم انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنے فیصلہ کو ظاہر کردے اور اللہ اطاعت سے نکلنے والی قوم کو کبھی (کامیابی کا) راستہ نہیں دکھاتا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Say, if your fathers and your sons and your brethren and your wives and your kinsfolk and the wealth you have acquired and the trade whose dullness you fear and the dwellings which you love are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause,[1172] then wait until Allah brings about His judgment; and Allah guides not the disobedient people

Ties of relationship and the love of kith and kin and other worldly considerations, of wealth, trade and property should not be allowed to stand in the way when a dearer relationship and a nobler cause and more vital considerations demand their sacrifice.

English - Five Volume Translation

Commentary:

The idolaters were closely connected with Muslims by ties of blood and relationship. Muslims are plainly told in this verse that these relationships and other worldly considerations of wealth, trade and property should not be allowed to stand in the way when a dearer relationship and a nobler cause and more vital considerations demanded their sacrifice. Love of kith and kin and worldly possessions should not be permitted to hinder the Faithful from serving the cause of Islam. The judgement of God mentioned at the end of the verse came after the death of the Holy Prophet when "the disobedient people," i.e. those who had joined the fold of Islam for worldly considerations, revolted and were punished by God through Abu Bakr, the First Khalifah.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے نبیؐ، کہہ دو کہ اگر تمہارے باپ اور تمہارے بیٹے، اور تمہارے بھائی، اور تمہاری بیویاں اور تمہارے عزیز و اقارب اور تمہارے وہ مال جو تم نے کما ئے ہیں، اور تمہارے وہ کاروبار جن کے ماند پڑ جانے کا تم کو خوف ہے اور تمہارے وہ گھر جو تم کو پسند ہیں، تم کو اللہ اور اس کے رسول اور اس کی راہ میں جہاد سے عزیز تر ہیں تو انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنا فیصلہ تمہارے سامنے لے آئے، اور اللہ فاسق لوگوں کی رہنمائی نہیں کیا کرتا

English - Sahih

Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."

کہہ دے اگر تمہارے باپ اور بیٹے اور بھائی اوربیویاں اور برادری اور مال جو تم نے کمائے ہیں اور سوداگری جس کے بند ہونے سے تم ڈرتے ہو اور مکانات جنہیں تم پسند کر تے ہو تمہیں الله اور اس کے رسول اوراس کی راہ میں لڑنے سے زیادہ پیارے ہیں تو انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ الله اپنا حکم بھیجے اور الله نافرمانوں کو راستہ نہیں دکھاتا

English - Talal Itani

Say, "If are your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your spouses, and your relatives, and wealth that you have acquired and the commerce, you fear a decline (in) it and the dwellings you delight (in) it (are) more beloved to you than Allah, and His Messenger and striving in His way, then wait until Allah brings His Command. And Allah (does) not guide the people - the defiantly disobedient."

English - Arberry

Say: 'If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your clan, your possessions that you have gained, commerce you fear may slacken, dwellings you love -- if these are dearer to you than God and His Messenger, and to struggle in His way, then wait till God brings His command; God guides not the people of the ungodly.'

English - Maududi

Tell them, (O Prophet): "If your fathers and your sons and your brothers and your wives and your tribe and the riches you have acquired and the commerce of which you fear a slackening, and the dwellings that you love, if they are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His decree. Allah does not guide the evil-doing folk."
