۞ رَبِّ قَدْ ءَاتَيْتَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِى مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ ۚ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِىِّۦ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِى مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘O my Lord, Thou hast bestowed power upon me and taught me the interpretation of dreams. O Maker of the heavens and the earth, Thou art my Protector in this world and the Hereafter. Let death come to me in a state of submission to Thy will and join me to the righteous.’

اے میرے ربّ! تو نے مجھے امورِ سلطنت میں سے حصہ دیا اور باتوں کی اصلیّت سمجھنے کا علم بخشا۔ اے آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے! تُو دنیا اور آخرت میں میرا دوست ہے۔ مجھے فرمانبردار ہونے کی حالت میں وفات دے اور مجھے صالحین کے زُمرہ میں شامل کر۔

Ô Créateur des cieux et de la terre, Tu es mon Protecteur dans ce monde et dans l’au-delà. “Oh, Señor mío, me has bendecido con una parte de la soberanía y me has enseñado la interpretación de las cosas. Oh, Creador de los cielos y la tierra, Tú eres mi Protector en este mundo y en el Más llá. Haz que la muerte me sorprenda en estado de sumisión a Tu voluntad y úneme a los justos”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اے میرے رب! تو نے مجھے حکومت کا ایک حصہ (بھی) عطا کیا ہے اور تعبیر الرؤیا کا بھی کچھ علم تو نے مجھے بخشا ہے۔ (اے) آسمانوں اور زمین کو پیدا کرنے والے تو (ہی) دنیا اور آخرت (دونوں) میں میرا مددگار ہے (جب بھی میری موت کا وقت آئے) مجھے اپنی کامل فرمانبرداری کی حالت میں وفات دے اور صالحین (کی جماعت) کے ساتھ ملا دے۔

Commentary:

This verse bespeaks the great love which the righteous servants of God cherish for Him. Neither prosperity nor adversity can make them forget their Lord and Creator. Even amidst rejoicing at meeting with his parents and brothers after a long time, Joseph feels the flame of Divine love rising in his breast, and ignoring and forgetting all, he turns to his Lord and Master. It is this yearning of the human soul for God in which lies all spiritual progress. Without it outward acts of devotion are a mere shell without kernel.

The verse also shows how the lives of Prophets furnish strong proof of the attributes of God. This rise of Joseph from a state of utter helplessness to a position of great power and authority signified that God, as it were, created for him a new heaven and a new earth, thus providing evidence of the fact that He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. This is what is hinted at in the words, O Maker of the heavens and the earth.

اے میرے رب، تو نے مجھے حکومت بخشی اور مجھ کو باتوں کی تہ تک پہنچنا سکھایا زمین و آسمان کے بنانے والے، تو ہی دنیا اور آخرت میں میرا سرپرست ہے، میرا خاتمہ اسلام پر کر اور انجام کار مجھے صالحین کے ساتھ ملا"

English - Sahih

My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous."
