فَلَمَّآ أَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَبْطِشَ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّهُمَا قَالَ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِى كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًۢا بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۖ إِن تُرِيدُ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when he made up his mind to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of them, he said, ‘O Moses, dost thou intend to kill me as thou didst kill a man yesterday? Thou only intend est to become a tyrant in the land, and thou intendest not to be a peacemaker.’

پھر جب اس نے ارادہ کیا کہ اُسے پکڑے جو اُن دونوں کا دشمن ہے تو اس نے کہا اے موسیٰ! کیا تو چاہتا ہے کہ مجھے بھی قتل کر دے جیسا تُو نے ایک شخص کو کل قتل کیا تھا۔ اس کے سوا تُوکچھ نہیں چاہتا کہ ملک میں دھونس جماتا پھرے اور تُو نہیں چاہتا کہ اصلاح کرنے والوں میں سے ہو۔

French

Et lorsqu’il décida d’empoigner l’homme qui était leur ennemi commun, celui-ci dit : « Ô Moïse, as-tu l’intention de me tuer comme tu as tué un homme hier ? Tu désires seulement devenir un tyran sur la terre, et tu ne veux pas devenir un pacificateur. »

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پس جب اس نے ارادہ کیا کہ اس شخص کو پکڑے جو ان دونوں کا دشمن تھا تو اس (شخص[2]) نے کہا کہ اے موسیٰ! کیا تو چاہتا ہے کہ مجھے قتل کر دے جس طرح تو نے کل ایک شخص کو قتل کیا تھا تو صرف یہ چاہتا ہے کہ کمزوروں کو ملک میں دبا دے اور اصلاح کرنے والوں میں شامل ہونا تیری غرض نہیں۔

یعنی جو بنی اسرائیل میں سے تھا اس نے غلطی سے یہ سمجھا کہ وہ مجھے مارنے لگا ہے اور زور سے کہا کہ کل کی طرح تم آج بھی خون کرنا چاہتے ہو۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And when he made up his mind to lay hold of the man who was an enemy[2209] to both of them, he said, ‘O Moses, dost thou intend to kill me even as thou didst kill a person yesterday? Thou only desirest to be a tyrant in the land, and thou desirest not to be a peacemaker.’

The words, who was an enemy to both of them, show that the man referred to was an Egyptian. But if he was an Israelite, as the Bible says, then he must have been in league with the Egyptians and must have reported the previous day’s incident to the authorities and thus was an enemy both to Moses and the Israelite who called Moses for help.

English - Five Volume Translation

And when he made up his mind to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of them, he said, ‘O Moses, dost thou intend to kill me as thou didst kill a man yesterday? Thou only intendest to become a tyrant in the land, and thou desirest not to be a peace-maker.’[2891]

Commentary:

The words "who was an enemy to both of them," show that the man referred to was an Egyptian. But if he was an Israelite as the Bible says then he must have been in league with the Egyptians and must have reported the previous day’s incident to the authorities and thus was an enemy both to Moses and the Israelite who called Moses for help.

پھر جب موسیٰؑ نے ارادہ کیا کہ دشمن قوم کے آدمی پر حملہ کرے تو وہ پکار اٹھا "اے موسیٰؑ، کیا آج تو مجھے اُسی طرح قتل کرنے لگا ہے جس طرح کل ایک شخص کو قتل کر چکا ہے، تو اس ملک میں جبّار بن کر رہنا چاہتا ہے، اصلاح نہیں کرنا چاہتا"

English - Sahih

And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."

پھر جب ارادہ کیا کہ اس پر ہاتھ ڈالے جو ان دونوں کا دشمن تھا کہا اے موسیٰ! کیا تو چاہتا ہے کہ مجھے مار ڈالے جیسا تو نے کل ایک آدمی کو مار ڈالا ہے تو یہی چاہتا ہے کہ ملک میں زبردستی کرتا پھرے اور تو نہیں چاہتا کہ اصلاح کرنے والوں میں سے ہو

Then when [that] he wanted to strike the one who [he] (was) an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Musa! Do you intend to kill me as you killed a person yesterday? Not you want but that you become a tyrant in the earth, and not you want that you be of the reformers."

But when he would have assaulted the man who was an enemy to them both, the man said, 'Moses, dost thou' desire to slay me, even as thou slewest a living 'soul yesterday? Thou only desirest to be a tyrant in the land; thou desirest not to be of them that put things right.'

And when Moses decided to lay his violent hands on the man belonging to the enemy, he cried out: "Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed a person yesterday?" You simply want to live in the land as a tyrant, and do not wish to set things right."
