وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And those who say, ‘Our Lord, grant us of our wives and children the delight of our eyes, and make us a model for the righteous.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور وہ لوگ جو یہ کہتے ہیں کہ اے ہمارے ربّ! ہمیں اپنے جیون ساتھیوں اور اپنی اولاد سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک عطا کر اور ہمیں متقیوں کا امام بنا دے۔
French
Et qui disent : « Notre Seigneur accorde-nous de nos femmes et de nos enfants la joie de nos yeux, et fais de chacun d’entre nous un leader pour les gens pieux. »

und diejenigen, welche sprechen: "Unser Herr, gewähre uns an unseren Frauen und Kindern Augentrost, und mache uns zu einem Vorbild für die Rechtschaffenen":

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور وہ لوگ بھی (رحمن کے بندے ہیں) جو یہ کہتے رہتے ہیں کہ اے ہمارے رب! ہم کو ہماری بیویوں کی طرف سے اور اولاد کی طرف سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک عطا فرما۔ اور ہمیں متقیوں کا امام بنا[1]۔
یعنی ہمارا خاندان ہماری اتباع کرے لیکن وہ متقی ہو۔ صرف رشتہ داری کی ضدّ میں ہمارا ساتھ نہ دے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
And those who say, ‘Our Lord, grant us of our wives and children the delight of our eyes, and make us a model for the righteous.’

And those who say, ‘Our Lord, grant us of our wives and children the delight of our eyes, and make us a model for the righteous.[2701]
Commentary:
The word إمام meaning "leader" and "model" (2:125 & 15:80), the verse purports to say that a truly righteous man is not satisfied with only becoming righteous himself but aims at being a model and pattern for other righteous men to copy.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
جو دعائیں مانگا کرتے ہیں کہ "اے ہمارے رب، ہمیں اپنی بیویوں اور اپنی اولاد سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک دے اور ہم کو پرہیز گاروں کا امام بنا"
English - Sahih
And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous."

اور وہ جو کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے رب ہمیں ہماری بیویوں اور اولاد کی طرف سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک عطا فرما اور ہمیں پرہیزگاروں کا پیشوا بنا دے

یعنی ہمارا خاندان ہماری اتباع کرے لیکن وہ متقی ہو۔ صرف رشتہ داری کی ضدّ میں ہمارا ساتھ نہ دے۔
