فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَہُ السَّعۡیَ قَالَ یٰبُنَیَّ اِنِّیۡۤ اَرٰی فِی الۡمَنَامِ اَنِّیۡۤ اَذۡبَحُکَ فَانۡظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرٰی ۚ قَالَ یٰۤاَبَتِ افۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِیۡۤ اِنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ مِنَ الصّٰبِرِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when he was old enough to work with him, he said, ‘O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee. So consider, what thou thinkest of it!’ He replied, ‘O my father, do as thou art commanded; thou wilt find me, if Allah please, of those who are patient.’

پس جب وہ اس کے ساتھ دوڑنے پھرنے کی عمرکو پہنچا اس نے کہا اے میرے پیارے بیٹے! یقیناً میں سوتے میں دیکھا کرتا ہوں کہ میں تجھے ذبح کر رہا ہوں، پس غور کر تیری کیا رائے ہے؟ اس نے کہا اے میرے باپ! وہی کر جو تجھے حکم دیا جاتاہے۔ یقیناً اگر اللہ چاہے گا تو مجھے تُو صبر کرنے والوں میں سے پائے گا۔

French

Et quand celui-ci fut assez âgé pour travailler avec lui, il dit : « Ô mon cher fils, j’ai vu en songe que je t’offrais en sacrifice. Vois ce que tu en penses. » Il répondit : « Ô mon père, agis selon le commandement que tu as reçu ; si Allāh le veut, tu me trouveras du nombre des endurants. »

Als er alt genug war, um mit ihm zu arbeiten*, sprach (Abraham): "O mein lieber Sohn, ich habe im Traum gesehen, dass ich dich schlachte**. Nun schau, was meinst du dazu?" Er antwortete: "O mein Vater, tu, wie dir befohlen; du sollst mich, so Allah will, standhaft finden."

Considera dunque la questione: che cosa ne pensi?» Egli rispose: «Padre mio, fa come ti viene comandato. Tu mi troverai, se Allah vuole, di quelli che sono pazienti.»

Y cuando fue suficientemente mayor como para trabajar junto a él, le dijo: “Oh, querido hijo, he visto en un sueño que te ofrezco en sacrificio. ¡Mira pues lo que piensas de ello!”. Él respondió: “Oh, padre mío, haz lo que se te ordena; me encontrarás, si Al‑lah lo quiere, entre los que muestran paciencia”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پھر جب وہ لڑکا اس کے ساتھ تیز چلنے کے قابل ہو گیا تو اس نے کہا اے میرے بیٹے! میں نے تجھے خواب میں دیکھا ہے کہ (گویا) میں تجھے ذبح[3] کر رہا ہوں۔ پس تو فیصلہ کر کہ اس میں تیری کیا رائے ہے۔ (اس وقت بیٹے نے کہا) اے میرے باپ جو کچھ تجھے خدا کہتا ہے وہی کر تو انشاء اللہ مجھے اپنے ایمان پر قائم رہنے والا دیکھے گا۔

اس خواب کے اصل معنے یہ تھے کہ تجھے مکہ کی بے آب و گیاہ وادی میں چھوڑ کر آنے والا ہوں۔ جو ایک قسم کی موت ہے اور یہ تعبیر لفظاً پوری ہوئی گو چھری سے ذبح کرنا لفظاً پورا نہ ہوا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And when he was old enough to run along with him, he said, ‘O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I offer thee in sacrifice.[2497] So consider what thou thinkest of it!’ He replied, ‘O my father, do as thou art commanded; thou wilt find me, if Allah please, steadfast in my faith.’

The Qur’an and the Bible are at variance as to which of his two sons—Ishmael or Isaac—Abraham, in pursuance of God’s command, offered for sacrifice. According to the Bible it was Isaac (Gen. 22: 2). The Qur’an, on the other hand, declares clearly and unequivocally that it was Ishmael. The Bible contradicts itself in this respect. According to it, Abraham was commanded to offer his only son for sacrifice, but Isaac was at no time his only son. Ishmael was senior to Isaac by 13 years and for these many years was Abraham’s only son, and, being also his first born, was doubly dear to him. It stands to reason, therefore, that Abraham must have been required by God to offer for sacrifice his nearest and dearest thing which was his only and first-born son who was Ishmael. Some Christian evangelists have vainly tried to show that, 'Ishmael being of the handmaid, was born after the flesh while Isaac being born of the free woman was by promise' (Galatians, 4: 22, 23). وہ لڑکا جب اس کے ساتھ دوڑ دھوپ کرنے کی عمر کو پہنچ گیا تو (ایک روز) ابراہیمؑ نے اس سے کہا، "بیٹا، میں خواب میں دیکھتا ہوں کہ میں تجھے ذبح کر رہا ہوں، اب تو بتا، تیرا کیا خیال ہے؟" اُس نے کہا، "ابا جان، جو کچھ آپ کو حکم دیا جا رہا ہے اسے کر ڈالیے، آپ انشاءاللہ مجھے صابروں میں سے پائیں گے"

English - Sahih

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."

and when he was old enough to go about and work with him, (one day) Abraham said to him: “My son, I see in my dream that I am slaughtering you. So consider (and tell me) what you think.” He said: “Do as you are bidden. You will find me, if Allah so wills, among the steadfast.”
