وَقَالَتِ الۡیَہُوۡدُ وَالنَّصٰرٰی نَحۡنُ اَبۡنٰٓؤُا اللّٰہِ وَاَحِبّٰٓؤُہٗ ۚ قُلۡ فَلِمَ یُعَذِّبُکُمۡ بِذُنُوۡبِکُمۡ ۖ بَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقَ ۚ یَغۡفِرُ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَیُعَذِّبُ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ۚ وَلِلّٰہِ مُلۡکُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَہُمَا ۖ وَاِلَیۡہِ الۡمَصِیۡرُ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
The Jews and the Christians say, ‘We are sons of Allah and His loved ones.’ Say, ‘Why then does He punish you for your sins? Nay, you are only human beings among those He has created.’ He forgives whom He pleases and punishes whom He pleases. And to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and to Him shall be the return.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور یہود اور نصاریٰ نے کہا کہ ہم اللہ کی اولاد ہیں اور اس کے محبوب ہیں۔ توُ کہہ دے پھر وہ تمہیں تمہارے گناہوں کی وجہ سے عذاب کیوں دیتا ہے؟ نہیں، بلکہ تم ان میں سے جن کو اُس نے پیدا کیا محض بشر ہو۔ وہ جسے چاہتا ہے معاف کر دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے عذاب دیتا ہے اور آسمانوں اور زمین کی بادشاہت اللہ ہی کی ہے اور اس کی بھی جو اُن دونوں کے درمیان ہے اور آخر اسی کی طرف لَوٹ کر جانا ہے۔
French
Les Juifs et les Chrétiens disent : « Nous sommes les fils d’Allāh et Ses bien-aimés. » Dis : « Pourquoi donc vous fait-Il expier vos péchés ? Mais non, vous n’êtes que des êtres humains d’entre ceux qu’Il a créés. » Il pardonne à qui Il veut et Il punit qui Il veut. Et c’est à Allāh qu’appartiennent le royaume des cieux et de la terre et ce qui est entre eux, et c’est vers Lui que sera la destination finale.

Die Juden und die Christen sagen: "Wir sind Söhne Allahs und Seine Lieblinge." Sprich: "Warum straft Er euch dann für eure Sünden? Nein, ihr seid (bloß) Menschenkinder unter denen, die Er schuf." Er vergibt, wem Er will, und Er straft, wen Er will. Allahs ist das Königreich der Himmel und der Erde und was zwischen beiden ist, und zu Ihm ist die Heimkehr.

E gli ebrei e i cristiani dicono: «Siamo figli di Allah e i Suoi prediletti.» Di': «Perché allora Egli vi punisce per i vostri peccati? No, voi siete soltanto esseri umani tra quelli che ha creato.» Egli perdona a chiunque Lui vuole e punisce chiunque Lui vuole. Los judíos y los cristianos dicen: “Somos hijos de Al-lah y Sus predilectos”. Diles: “¿Por qué, pues, Él os castiga por vuestros pecados? No, sólo sois seres humanos de entre los creados por Él”. Y Él perdona a quien Le place y castiga a quien desea; pues a Al-lah pertenecen el reino de los cielos, la tierra y cuanto hay entre ellos, y a Él habrán de volver.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور یہودی اور نصاریٰ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اللہ کے بیٹے (ہیں) اور اس کے پیارے ہیں۔ تو کہہ دے کہ پھر وہ تمہارے قصوروں کے سبب سے تمہیں عذاب کیوں دیتا ہے (یوں نہیں جو تم کہتے ہو) بلکہ جو (دوسرے آدمی) اس نے پیدا کئے ہیں تم (بھی) ان (ہی) کی قسم کے آدمی ہو۔ وہ جسے پسند کرتا ہے بخشتا ہے اور جسے پسند کرتا ہے عذاب دیتا ہے اور آسمانوں اور زمین اور جو کچھ ان (دونوں) کے درمیان ہے ان (سب) پر حکومت اللہ ہی کی ہے اور اسی کی طرف (سب نے) پھر کر جانا ہے۔

The Jews and the Christians say, [a]‘We are sons of Allah and His beloved ones.’ Say, ‘Why then does He punish you for your sins? Nay, you are mortals from among those He has created.’ [b]He forgives whom He pleases and punishes whom He pleases. Commentary:
The claim of Jews and Christians to be "the sons of God and His beloved ones" is found in 2:81, 112; 3:25; 62:7.
The clause, Why then does He punish you for your sins, contains a double argument against the preposterous claim of the People of the Book. If they are truly the sons of God and His beloved ones, why do they commit sins which is a sign of filth and uncleanness? One springing from God and beloved of Him must certainly be above this, for God loves not those who are filthy and commit sins. Again, if they are really the sons of God and His beloved ones, why do they suffer torment and punishment while a divine being must be above such weakness?

یہود اور نصاریٰ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اللہ کے بیٹے اور اس کے چہیتے ہیں ان سے پوچھو، پھر وہ تمہارے گناہوں پر تمہیں سزا کیوں دیتا ہے؟ در حقیقت تم بھی ویسے ہی انسان ہو جیسے اور انسان خدا نے پیدا کیے ہیں وہ جسے چاہتا ہے معاف کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے سزا دیتا ہے زمین اور آسمان اور ان کی ساری موجودات اس کی مِلک ہیں، اور اسی کی طرف سب کو جانا ہے

But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of Allah and His beloved." Say, "Then why does He punish you for your sins?" Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.

Commentary:
