قَالَ ہَلۡ اٰمَنُکُمۡ عَلَیۡہِ اِلَّا کَمَاۤ اَمِنۡتُکُمۡ عَلٰۤی اَخِیۡہِ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ ۖ فَاللّٰہُ خَیۡرٌ حٰفِظًا ۖ وَّہُوَ اَرۡحَمُ الرّٰحِمِیۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He said, ‘I cannot trust you with him, save as I trusted you with his brother before. But Allah is the best Protector, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اس نے کہا کیا میں اس کے متعلق اس کے سوا بھی تم پر کوئی اعتماد کر سکتا ہوں جیسا کہ میں نے اس کے بھائی کے بارہ میں (اس سے) پہلے تم پر کیا تھا؟ پس اللہ ہی ہے جو بہترین حفاظت کرنے والا اور وہی سب رحم کرنے والوں سے بڑھ کر رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
French
Il dit : « Puis-je vous le confier sinon qu’ avec les mêmes conséquences que quand je vous ai confié son frère auparavant ? Mais Allāh est le meilleur Protecteur, et Il est le plus Miséricordieux de ceux qui font miséricorde. »
German
Er sprach: "Ich kann ihn euch nicht anderes anvertrauen, als ich euch seinen Bruder zuvor anvertraut habe. Doch Allah ist der beste Beschützer, und Er ist der barmherzigste Erbarmer."

他说: “(你们告诉) 我除了 (想得到) 像我从前把他的哥哥托付你们 (所得一样的结局), 我能把他托付你们吗? 安拉是最好的保护者, 也是仁慈者中最仁慈的。”

Egli rispose: «Che fiducia posso avere, se non la stessa di quando vi ho affidato l'altra volta suo fratello? Ma Allah è il miglior Protettore, ed Egli è il più Clemente di quelli che mostrano clemenza.»

Él respondió: “No os lo puedo confiar, como os confié antes a su hermano. Pero Al-lah es el mejor Protector, y Él es el Más Misericordioso de entre los que muestran misericordia”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اس نے کہا (تم ہی بتاؤ) کیا میں اس کو تمہارے سپرد کر سکتا ہوں سوائے اس کے کہ اس کا وہی نتیجہ نکلے جو اس سے پہلے میرے اس کے بھائی کو تمہارے سپرد کرنے کا نتیجہ نکلا تھا۔ پس (میں اسے تمہارے سپرد تو کرتا ہوں مگر اس یقین سے کہ تم نہیں بلکہ) اللہ ہی بہتر حفاظت کرنے والا ہے۔ اور وہی سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
He said, ‘Can I trust you with him, except with the same result as when I trusted you with his brother before. But Allah is the Best Protector, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.’
English - Five Volume Translation
He said, ‘I cannot trust you with him, save as I trusted you with his brother before. But Allah is the best Protector, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.’[1566]
Commentary:
In the words, Allah is the best Protector, Jacob administers a subtle rebuke to his sons by hinting to them that, after their tragic experience with Joseph, it is a pity that even now they should not rely on the protection of God but on their own power. He further hints that he had not entrusted Joseph to their care before, nor would he now entrust his brother to their protection. His trust now, as before, lay in God alone.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
باپ نے جواب دیا "کیا میں اُس کے معاملہ میں تم پر ویسا ہی بھروسہ کروں جیسا اِس سے پہلے اُس کے بھائی کے معاملہ میں کر چکا ہوں؟ اللہ ہی بہتر محافظ ہے اور وہ سب سے بڑھ کر رحم فرمانے والا ہے"
English - Sahih
He said, "Should I entrust you with him except [under coercion] as I entrusted you with his brother before? But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful."
